Teams

Adelaide sprung a bit of a suprise my picking Crowell, but Dees have suprised more by dropping Powell.

Melbourne
B: Ellis, Bruce, Brown
HB: Ward, Bizzell, Whelan
C: J.McDonald, Walsh, Johnstone
HF: Armstrong, Schwarz, Green
F: Vardy, Neitz, Jolly
Foll: White, Yze, Woewodin
Inter: Lamb, Broadbridge, Robertson, Leoncelli
Emerg: Miller, Funcke, Williams
In: Armstrong, Vardy, Lamb
Out: Nicholson (knee), Powell, Williams

Adelaide
B: Hart, Bassett, Massie
HB: Smart, McGregor, Bickley
C: Stenglein, Ricciuto, Bode
HF: Ladhams, Stevens, Edwards
F: Biglands, Schell, Burton
Foll: Clarke, Goodwin, McLeod
Inter: Crowell, Doughty, Gallagher, Johncock
Emerg: Nelson, Perrie, Marsh
In: Crowell
Out: Johnson (appendix)

I like Crowell's inclusion, offers a bit of versatility in that he can play anywhere, but in all likelihood won't get a lot of gametime anyway. Will plug a few holes, if need be, and I think he's better value than Nelson.

Powell's omission is a pleasant surprise, hasn't been in great form recently but when he has played well, it seems Melbourne also performs. It's no coincidence his best games have all been Dees' wins. I'm a big subscriber to the "he's due for one" theory regarding good players who have had a couple of poor games, so I'm glad that he's not there.

I like the balance of the team (not necessarily how they've lined up) and I just hope we're switched on and ready to go, as the Dees no doubt will be...looking forward to Saturday!

GRRRR!! NOT CROWELL!

here i was hoping that the AFC side would be a Crowell free zone for the rest of the year.. damn!here's hoping he does'nt give away half a dozen free kicks and can play for a bit more than 15 minutes...

Crowell has not done that much in the SANFL but he seems to be an ideal replacement for Welsh with really Gallagher bieng Johnsons replacement

C Ladhams should get some ground time and a chance to impress

I was stoked that Powell was dropped. He has hurt us on more than one occasion

Perhaps they have someone carrying an injury and he will come back in at the last miniute.

Hopefully Johno and Welsh will be back next week for our huge trip to Subiaco

Crows to beat Melbourne by 5 goals +

Who do you reckon they'll put on Vardy?

Bickley?

Looks a good side, even without Johnson. Crowell deserves a chance, from reports. He was great the one game I got over for against Port Magpies.

No Powell is a bonus.

Who's a slower small on Melbourne's forward line? Green is lightning and Armstrong's a youngster. Vardy aint Maurice Green.

Plenty of options for Vardy - Massie, Smarty or Stiffy. Like Jars I reckon Bickley is a bit too slow for Vardy & is better value in the midfield mix, particularly if it is wet (& we are without Sugar).

I can't even remember who played on Vards at the moment (10 beers later:D ) but whoever it was did a great job for 3 quarters (only 2 possesions till 3 qtr time I think) It was Vardy's fist game in a month & he'll be better for the run.

As for Crowell he had a shocker. Kicking into Broadbridge's hand while shooting from 15 just before HT out was a poor start. He then conceded 2 3rd quarter goals to Neeta after Nige Smart(hammy?) had done a good job on the big fella.

Kris Massie was good for the Crows & McLeod was always a threat, fortunately we were able to tighten up on your midfield after quarter time. We were pretty desperate yesterday, we really needed that win. I rate the Crows & as long as injuries don't get out of hand they're still a premiership threat.

What actually happened to Goodwin? Is his ankle broken or just sprained? It looked ugly at the time.

BT, seems like a badly sprained ankle, which is a much better outcome than first anticipated, and should mean he's only out for between 1-4 weeks. Could have been much worse. Smarty has the flu, or that's what was in brackets after his name under injuries :p

Congrats on the win, well deserved, the more committed, desperate team won on the day. All the best :)

BT - Benny Hart was on Vardy most of the time & was one of the few Crows players who actually played 4 quarters of good football.

Yep, sure did. He looks like a great footballer, but does bugger all most of the time (ie. goes missing for too long). Will be lucky to play another game in the tri-colours.

Hart was great, he usually is against us:mad: ;)

McLeod looked great when he got it but we contained him fairly well I thought, same goes for Ricciuto & Bickley. Matthew Bode was lively.

So Crowell's a Centrals player then? Aren't they on top of the SANFL?
