For another small sample space, the only other time I have attended a Crows/Freo game we kicked ten times their score for a 19.16.130 to 1.7.13 drubbing. Hoping for a similar result!

Tex has trouble with him and Balta. Perhaps Tex is a decoy, lead him up the ground so TT and Rachele can work together? If Pearce goes to TT then Tex should be able to get hold of Cox and/or Draper.

OPTUS (I hate stadiums with sponsor names) stadium is a bit like the MCG so I think it suits us somewhat, especially players like Keays, Rachele, Rankine, Cumming, Draper can use their leg speed/hard running to stretch the ground.

We go all right there but never beaten Freo, although we were subjected to a Pyke 2018 half time pep talk and Burton dished out some more hamstring awareness.

In 2024 we were in the depths of our 0-4 Zombieball strategy.

Should be good, Crows win if we kick straight.

I wouldn’t be counting out Curtin as an offensive threat. His leading and marking are actually very impressive, and playing in front of his family and friends, and being given licence to play closer to goal, I could easily see him with 3 or 4 majors.

It would be well within his ability to do that and it will only serve to make the WA sides come extra hard after him unfortunately imo. As I noted previously, I just wish we had already secured him on a very long term deal as if he does start to fire, its only going to get much harder to do and much more expensive if we can do it.

Gold Coast and Geelong, coached by two coaches Nicks has struggled against, lost both of those. Roughly on par with expectations.

I had us winning one of the GWS or Fremantle games, leaning towards GWS due to Nicks better record against Kingsley vs Longmuir.

So if we beat Fremantle tonight we would be one win ahead of expectations.

Following that throughout the rest of the season I think the expectations are us beating Carlton, Port Adelaide, West Coast and Richmond. Similarly, losing to Collingwood, Brisbane, Hawthorn, Bulldogs. And a couple of question marks over teams like Sydney and Melbourne (Nicks poor record vs those teams poor form).

Applying that to the season I'd have us somewhere around 11-13 wins heading into North Melbourne in the final round which is a really dangerous game. Wouldn't want us needing that win to make finals, weight of expectations and so on.

Basically I want to see us do more than just match expectations. This is not a game I expect a coach like Nicks to win, similar to how I don't expect him to beat Collingwood at the MCG. Even though I believe the team itself, the players, are good enough to beat Fremantle. Winning those sorts of games goes a long way to proving Nicks is better than we all think he is, and that as a team we are projecting to be better than a fringe finals chance.

Lose our three upcoming tests (Fremantle away, Collingwood away, Sydney away) and heading into games against Brisbane and Hawthorn... Nicks would be basically cooked at the bye

He hasn't done enough yet either way. Not enough disaster losses to be sacked, not enough impressive wins to put his position beyond doubt. As far as I see it, he's in limbo

It has to be winning a final as the measuring stick. Last year was the finals making year and he survived by the injury excuse. No worries, that’s done. But it doesn’t mean the expectations are delayed by a full season.
