Hopefully he wont be back if he and Cullen Bailey are in competition for the same spot.

Bails is a gun. :thumbsu:

ROFL wasn't long ago dan cullen was being touted by the SA supporters as the next test spinner, looks like their faith in him was misplaced.

Common sense, unlike the Victorians who continue to ride a horse long after its dead, the SA boys know when something is on its last legs and get off.

Bailey > Cullen, thats all I've ever said as have others. So to put everyone into one collective group is a tad misleading.

I have always claimed Bailey will play more Tests than Cullen. Find proof otherwise.

ROFL plenty calling for dan cullen inclusion in the higher form as the next best thing over the years

Eh. I still place him as the 2nd best young spin prospect in Australia- Behind Bailey. It's hard to fit 2 very good prospects who are likely to play for Australia in one team (Cullena and Bailey). Hopefully he finds some form... It's pretty tough work for spinners in Australia especially finger spinners. Leg spin bowling is a lot more dangerous unless you are a freak like Murali...

harbigan singh (spelling sorry) is a finger spinner who goes ok and vetorri isn't too bad either.

Aaron Heal, Beau Casson, Daniel Doran are all better.

After Dan Cullen's first year when the other young spinners in the country were only Hauritz, White and Doherty of course people were saying he'd be next for Tests (and they were right, he was) - he's still a better longer form bowler than those 3, but since Bailey and to a lesser extent Doran emerged anyone who's watched any decent amount of cricket knew Bailey had more to offer in Test cricket.

He should go to Victoria. They don't have any spinners over there.

<shrug> even if cullen comes and plays n the vic side we'd still have no spinners.

besides we usually send our has beens over to SA, hows elliot and fleming going? and didn't u guys have some useless zimmer who u paid and never turned up?

Their test records in Australia aren't too flash though.

It was the right decision for Cullen to be dropped. Had an average 05/06 and has really struggled to penetrate at all this season. Despite this though, there is still an x-factor about him. He has that mix of white line fever and confidence in his own ability that had him initially marked as one to watch. FWIW, I believe he will play test cricket for Australia again.

This season he has lost the key ingredient that turned a few heads in 04/05 - his ability to turn the ball. He has bowled quicker this season and as a result is turning it less. It also hasn't helped that the Redbacks have been so poor and I can't remember him getting to bowl on a fourth day wicket.

There was some talk that when they started getting some national publicity both he and Ferguson started becoming too worried about stuff like their sunglasses contracts and not enough about their cricket. This season might end up being a good thing for both of them and hopefully they will mature as cricketers.

Vettori has a great record in Aus

Cullen never had the tools to be a top class international spinner anyway, he will only be in the useful 2nd spinner like Tim May was. And this season I've noticed that he started bowling flatter and flatter, due to the effects of One Day cricket. You have gotta be Monty-good to be successful with finger spin at the top level and he's not as good as Monty yet
