I'd have Essendon as outright favourite for the spoon. Now that Hird and Sheedy have departed the scene, and with Lloyd, Lucas and Fletcher all another year older, I reckon they might be in for a pretty long year.

I agree with this assessment ... Hird is not going to be replaced by anyone on their list at the moment, so automatically they are worse off, their spine are all over 30 and apart from Gumbleton no KPP's on the radar as yet to replace them and their modfield is not going to keep opposition coaches awake at night ... but this is my opinion so any essendon supporters who don't like it ... get over it

I agree Essendon will struggle next year, but some people don't rate their young kids. You've forgotten Ryder as a part of their younger tall brigade.

I don't believe Essendon are anywhere near a top 8 side, but i also don't think that a club like Richmond will have the players to knock them off.

Richmond will win the spoon in 08.

Hird is irreplacable. So is Sheedy for that matter. Essendon will struggle big time next year. Mark my words.

I see some good value is the Lions, Dogs and Roo's to make the 8...

Freo's odd must be based on the heart they played with when Harvey took over...but just as history will show, it won't last...stupid odds!!
How do they out rank WC??? even without Judd and Cousins, their midfield with the addition of Rosa, Priddis is much better than Freo...

I agree with everybody else with their assessments on Essendon, i think they will hit rock bottom, and fighting hard against the 'Box Seat' Tigers!!!

I forgot to mention that in my post...

Melbourne are a shoe in for the spoon.

Sides like Kangaroos completely over achieved this season, not due to skill but lack of opposition.

The Grandfinal result speaks volumes, Geelong were no phenomenon, they were no Eagles or Lions, there was simply no one else.

A lot of teams are going through a rebuilding phase, and there will be some real
turn arounds next year. Expect to see Carlton do A LOT better than people expect. (Not simply due to our drafting or impending rise, but the fading of other teams). Blues and Brisbane to step up big time.

Gumbleton and Ryder are pretty handy KKP for mine... Richmonds are???

:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Don's will smash Richmond next year.

Lloyd Lucas Fletcher and Michael are still close to the best spine in the comp, regardless of age. With Ryder and Gumbleton that makes it even more solid.

The issue with Essendon is their midfield, not their KPP. Knights is going to be pulling his hair out.

I'm sorry, but I cannot accept that a club like the Roos that finished thrid and made a preliminary final are longer odds to make the eight than a club that hasnt made it since 2001. Strange.

Same here, but can't say I'm surprised about it. Year after year the Roos are rated right down the bottom by the media. I personally put it down do all that "Shinboner" underdog bullshit.

:) You guys have all really lost the plot.

BTW, The tigers at 4-1 are really good odds and I urge everyone of you Carlton fans to put your life savings on it.
