In your experience would you tape an ankle if you have hurt a tendon in a toe?
No. But then again I haven’t heard exactly what Bucks said, and I don’t know to what degree he’s dumbing it down for general consumption.

Not sure what Bucks made up this week but G Walsh said it was one of his toes.

I was at the VFL and saw him walking fine (in the Birkenstocks) with a taped ankle.

I still think it is Lupus by the way.

Very aggressive timeline.

Indeed! We’ve got a lot right over the past 12 months so the club has every right to go with it if they feel he’s ready, but if he plays a stinker and we lose I won’t be impressed.

I assume your bang on because I haven’t watched it! I’m just skeptical that will be the expected chain of events following the assessment of where he’s at.

Picking a guy that quickly at senior level without a competitive hit out since October is fraught with danger. Especially one that’s returning from a leg injury who has a history of struggling off limited preparations.

I got it with Adams because of the role he plays, the type of injury he had and his leadership, but WHE not so much. It just feels like a very aggressive timeline.

Totally agree. Find it bizarre, especially with Whe who usually takes a month or so to hit top gear.

No mention of Aish?

Clash of the flying fiends?!

WTF was that? The way he spoke about Port both times was a bit weird.

On a side note what are Sier and Crocker being tested for with the VFL bye?? It’s pretty clear Walsh is as interested in these as I’m interested in a phone call from the in-laws. Get someone who cares to do it.

The crazy injury reports Balme v Walsh.

Unsure who is more strangely funnier and weirdly watchable?

Funny I actually think the reverse compared to other years but don't want to tempt fate.

Just watching the VFL last week made me think: damn, we don't have that much depth after all. Yes, there's talent down there, but a lot of it isn't ready or performing. But in a a few weeks we should be back in better health.

The VFL is nothing more than a training session, that is how the club views it. AFL listed players are there to gain fitness and form, game results are irrelevant.

Fair. Just want to see him get some minutes soon. I was looking forward to watching him develop this year.

Don't hold your breath. He's firmly under the Saintly jinx.

That's all well and good, until we miss finals yet again then find ourselves with no 2nds games in September when we often need them for players short on fitness / depth.

It's a lot easier to bring in a player for a finals match after a good VFL game compared to bringing them in after they've missed 2 weeks because we missed finals footy.

You're probably right, but my understanding is that AFL listed players aren't allowed to play for other teams (seems strange but that's what someone told me). If we want to have a crack at category B kids and other undeveloped youngsters, we have to play them ahead of VFL standard senior players. Tus VFL listed players are likely to leave. Therefore we end up with a pretty ordinary team.

I personally love the romance of the Category B kids, and think that we should continue to look for some undeveloped youngsters who may end up a bargain in the draft, so under the current playing field, I'm happy for us to go down that path. Ideally though, I'd like us to lobby the AFL to have a reserves VFL comp, so that we can have the best of both worlds.
