This is the thread for making our draft picks. Keep general discussion of the competition to the other thread, but feel free to discuss the picks here.

Remember, here's how the competition was defined;

We each draft 8 players (starting 5 + 3 man bench).
Players drafted can only be from current NBA rosters.
You draft the best possible team to win this year.
We ignore current injuries in terms of drafting.
We ignore any other factors such as suspensions, contracts/free agency, etc.

The idea for this competition is that we draft a team from current rosters that we believe could win the championship this year had they been together for the entire season, and all remained healthy.

DRAFT ORDER, as per this post:

1. jod23
2. Chadwiko
3. PHX
4. Sauce
5. nufun
6. Shade
7. Liam
8. surkin
9. Axel Foley
10. PP

(Snake draft, so round 2 order starts at PP and works back to Jod23)

And remember, as requested by you, the fans, we've got extra criteria for the picks to make it interesting;

Extra Criteria for Picks - Each team must satifsy this criteria
*1 starting player who has not been an All-Star
*A designated 6th man
*1 player who has played less than 2 full seasons of NBA basketball, for whatever reason
*1 player from the team you support

The Voting is now open! Please see the Fantasy Subforum for the threads!
Also, see this post for details.

When voting, keep in mind that here's how the competition was defined;

We each draft 8 players (starting 5 + 3 man bench).

*A designated 6th man
*1 player who has played less than 2 full seasons of NBA basketball, for whatever reason
*1 player from the team you support

So vote accordingly. Vote for the teams you think best satisfy all the criteria, the teams that you think would have the best chance at the championship this year had they been together for the entire season, and all remained healthy.

And remember, anyone can vote, but draft competition participants votes count for 2!

Sources tell me jod23 is still deliberating on who to take with the first overall selection, with 3-time MVP LeBrone James still just in favour with the GM. One NBA executive said jod23 was "impressed by LeBrone's workout, but he's worried about the potential of getting 75c to the dollar by selecting him first overall."

I'll be shocked if Kevin Garnett doesn't go first overall. nbaman1 shocked!

Depends what your looking for, if you want a complete all round player who does everything you could ever ask you take KG. If you want someone for a bit of showtime on the offensive end who will just leak points on the defensive end you'd take Lebrone

jod23 said he'd be available during business hours, but still is yet to show up.

If he hasn't made his pick by 4pm, i'll consider replacing him in the draft competition.

Not an ideal start. :(

I'd take Dwight just because by the time pick 20 comes around there'd be NO decent Centre's left.
Chad Ford's mock draft places Tyson Chandler in the 8-13 range with a wealth of picks to the BF Knicks sorority. Andrew Bynum is a wildcard after peternorth handed in his license; Bynum's petulant nature could see him slide according to a number of league sources.

Center will definitely be a position of interest in the draft.

#1 - You set it up this morning, is he expected to have no life and check here all day everyday?
#2 - You're not one who should be kicking people out of drafts considering what you did in the NFL Draft Mock Draft.

I direct your dimunitive attention span to this

This will be run during business hours, and assuming we get the required number of participants, I aim to have the draft starting on the morning of Monday 14/5 (next Monday).

Furthermore, one of the requirements of participants was this;

If you are regularly unavailable/not active on BigFooty during business hours, then perhaps don't put your hand up to be a participant in this competition. (Yes, I have designed it this way as a reliable distraction from work).

Nice attempt at having a go at me though. So close! Keep reaching for that rainbow.

Oh, what's this? You go on...

#2 - You're not one who should be kicking people out of drafts considering what you did in the NFL Draft Mock Draft.

I signed up for a 2-round mock draft, and made all my required picks. After the draft had commenced and i'd already made my pick, it was extended to a three round draft. I had no interest in a three round draft, and wouldn't have signed up for it had I known that's what was going to happen.

Again, nice try. I'm surprised you're in such a touchy mood this morning Riggy, what with your Miami Heat winning today!

By the time we extended that draft to 3 rounds, there was more time for you to see than it is for our 1st pick to see your stipulation. It was near on a week you had to see.

I made my pick and didn't look at the thread again. I was waiting for the wrap-up.

Anyways, you're de-railing this thread, and conveniently ignoring the parts of my last post where I completely shut you down. :thumbsu:

Shots fired in the vicinity of the current rosters draft thread.

In the current climate, I'm expecting Gilbert Arenas could climb up to the 2nd or 3rd round as teams look to add someone who can handle a piece.

edit: I also like Delonte West in the 5th or 6th round if he still owns his trike.

Anyways, you're de-railing this thread
Says the guy who took a short statement, ripped it up and made an essay long arguement :rolleyes:

Chadwiko what is the criteria for the designated sixth man?

It's open to interpretation, but it should be someone who specifically compliments your starting 5 in a defined way. If you've got a 'big' starting 5, maybe it should be a small. If you've got a lot of perimeter threats in your starting 5, maybe it should be a post-up player, etc.

Someone who isn't a starter on your team, but has what it takes to come off the bench and have a significant impact.

So it can be someone who is a starter for their NBA team? It doesn't have to be a James Harden, Lou Williams, Jason Terry etc.

Doesn't this guy (Chad) listen to ideas.

I loved the one that came up where the player had to start less than 50% of the time.

Why make someone draft a 6th man when LeBrone James can be that 6th man?
Makes no sense.

Doesn't this guy (Chad) listen to ideas.

The very notion of extra criteria was someone elses idea that I was happy to take on.

This thread is for discussing picks.

Take your poor troll attempts to the other board please LeBriggy

It'll be interesting to see if people draft bigs with their first round picks, or go for the guards first...

good point.

or whether they go with a SF/combo guard option
