would anyone be kind enough to upload a solo Dave Mccormack mix. from all the best since custard..

dont actually have any of his solo albums. dont know where to start

How can you not. Stole Goodbye Cruel World off my brother and it's been on constant rotation since.

I have a burned copy from a friend, but I picked up a copy today from JB. I have a lot of Dave's music, but because it is so hard to track down a lot of it is in the form of burned copies and it has only just come onto the itunes store. I am on a mission to get all his albums in proper cd format as the itunes store is good, but I like to have the album book that comes with the cd.

If you want to move beyond Custard, then start with The Polaroids and The Titanics of which some of their music is in the link that I provided.

Check out Dave's myspace page for some of his solo stuff. I particularly enjoy **** the Machine and his cover of Hey Ya is awesome. :D

as something of a loser child, "girls like that" was something of an anthem for me.

as something of a loser adult, it still is!

i didn't love custard... i thought they had some ok songs. but they were popular in an era where a lot of music all sounded the same... stripped back, men singing with high voices, and a little dull.

custard, ben lee, the whitlams "love this city" album, some of jebediahs work, even you am i at that point in timee.

a LOT of australian music was sounding very similar... it isn't something that i enjoyed.

more info please. the review on fasterlouder was lame ...

My response to a similar question on the Bombers' board.

Okay. They kicked off with Goofinder and closed with Caboolture Speed Lab. They played many of their hits, including Pin Ball Lez, Girls Like That, Hit Song, RINGO, The New Mathew, Pak Yr Suitcases, Alone etc. They sounded somewhat rusty, but had great energy and seemeed to be loving it. Dave thanked the audience for making some old men happy. They could easily reform and tour the nation (I am hoping).

Apologies if my review is lacking.

The finale was awesome:

Oh man that's not fair, I wish I could have been there.

That crowd is atrocious though.

It was not a normal gig, but rather a celebration of the 150th anniversary of Qld. and so was an all ages event. This may explain the poor atmosphere. Once Powdefinger came on the crowd became more active. Idiots. They failed to realise that Custard > Powderfinger. Although, Fanning did refer to Custard as "****ing phenomenol" and so atleast he knew what was going on. :D

That pretty much sums up my thoughts as well. I was barely a teenager at the time of their musical/popular peak (and probably wasn't quite 'musically mature' enough to appreciate a lot of stuff that was around), but even now I still don't understand why so many people raved about (and Triple J played heaps of) bands like Custard about a decade ago. Maybe it's because I've never any of them live (apart from Jebadiah at Adelaide Uni O-Ball during their 'comeback' a couple of years ago), I don't know

Rather funny interview.

And if the show goes well is there a possibility of any more Custard shows?
Yeah. Oh, for sure. Look, we’ve all thought about it privately and vaguely brought it up in conversation in the practice room. I think what we’re all heading towards is we’ll do this gig and see how it goes. Who knows what the future holds? But there’s definitely no plans for any other gigs at the moment. Part of me would like to think that the door would be open to do that but I think we’re all just looking at the 10th of December. Have fun, do the gig, play the old songs and see what the future holds.

Hopefully there are more gigs on the way.

News for Melbourne fans: Dave McCormack and his Polaroids are playing at the Espy on Feb. 20. :thumbsu:
