James Wasely, anyone?

Bucks, although first year not at collingwood as such, would have to take the cake.

But you may be on to something, he's a pretty good player the old (but young) D.T

Its only a matter of time until he starts getting tagged though.
Playing as a HFF, he is getting an opponent every game anyway.

I would have to say he is definitely the most exciting first year player I've ever seen... but having said that I'm only 21 and only really started getting into the game a great deal in past 4 - 5 years.

Big call to say he is our best first year player ever. Yesterday was probably his only 'four' quarter performance.

He might not be the best, but he his certainly the most exciting!

Yes but Jason Cloke was mainly playing a loose man in defence in his 1st year.
Dale Thomas is being played as a loose wingman, he isn't really getting much attention as a seasoned player. I was at the game yesterday, and as skillful as DT is, his work rate and work ethic is whats most impressive about him. He got cleaned up twice trying to run into/bump blokes twice his size. Thats guts! VERY impressive. Although I believe Pendles will be the more resourceful and seasoned player of the two. And HEATER!!! He will be the best. I see touches of Nathan Buckley in this youngster, obviously not the same or anywhere near, but I see touches of Bucks in his confidence and style of play.
By the way, anyone that was at the game yesterday would also agree that T Cloke had his best game for Collingwood in a LONG time.

Mate he was useless for 3/4 of the match. If thats his best, delist him now. I know he is young, so im willing to give him more time. But he was shocking yesterday.

Couldnt bend down to get the ball, was slow, and didnt make great position.

Is Dale Thomas the best first year player Collingwood has had ever?

Nope. Graham Wright had a better first season. Kicked a truck load of goals as well. Buckley wasnt a first year player.

You obviously weren't at the same game as me, T Cloke filled Wakelins role when he got injuried and did a superb job.

And Trav was useless for most of the game. He sat off from the ball way too often and expected one of his teammates vs two opponents to get the ball out to him. I didn't like his second efforts at all. The second efforts of Thomas though were superb.

Nope, Morrison is a liability
While Travis is still learning

Anyone remember Ricky Barham burst onto the scene? Now that was exciting. Thomas has been as good as most in recent years, particularly considering he didn't do an apprenticeship in the VFL. I can’t actually recall how good Daicos was in his first year but I do recall watching him very young and being sure he had “it”.

Tony Francis & Scott Russell played great footy in their first years
True but they were mature, as was Buckley to an extent.

Buckley and Greening would be the best first year players at CFC......But Thomas is up there!!!!!!! Did any of you guys see his attack on the footy in the first 30 seconds of the game????? He was hurt went off and came back......Fantastic. :thumbsu:

Didn't Daicos kick a bag and have over 30 possesions in his first game?

Lonie_from_50 do you know the answer?
He didnt kick a goal which was stange because the pies kicked 31 that day and beat the Saints by 178 at Victoria Park.........

He had 27 touches......
