Rumour Damian Barrett Blacklisted

Umm, Barretts version doesn't smell right either? Dempster, with a confirmed history of concussions and now with another one, gets so bitter about not being picked in round 1 after a head knock that he throws in the towel immediately?? And St Kilda and Dempster, to save face, then both collaborate to make up a story about it being concussion-related retirement? But in reality it's been a very messy fall-out with more to do not being picked in round 1?

Yeah, no questions to be asked about Barretts 'facts'.

Why can't it be as simple as he was told he wasn't the preferred back pocket and doesn't want to risk it for a season in the VFL rather than a season in the AFL.

Hence he decides to retire because he was already risking it by playing??

If athletes didn't risk concussion there would be no NFL no boxing and AFL would be no different.

Not to mention his sliding doors article is honestly the worst recurring football article out there.

Absolute dog s**t it is. This week he has 'mail' that LeCras might be in for a good season - yeah brave call to say that the week after he kicked 4, makes it sound like he has some inside source too.
Lol, this week he was worried about Henry Schade having to line up on Franklin. Of course Franklin kicks 0 goals ..

Really?

I rate Caro above Robbo, Ralph and Barrett.
Yep all muck rackers. Don't talk about footy and go the players off the field constantly which isn't cool at all. When they talk about the football that's fine but they don't they dig into the players behaviour off the field and over petty s**t too, like Tex Walker having a beer in the stand, or Ablett not attending every single match when he's injured or a dude breaking his finger cause he was playing cricket with his mate. Who cares imo.

So Barrett should be disbelieved because he is hated??? That's makes no sense, one of the reason he is hated is because he reports stories that clubs want to keep 'behind closed doors'.

Nanangtor your response is one of emotion because of what a great guy Sean is.

The question remains, if he had concussion from JLT1 then why did he play 9 days later? Especially given this concussion was career ending?

What are you saying?

Dempster is a coward or a quitter?

The club are tight and are kicking him out?

What you're insinuating is grubby and baseless

Head knocks aren't an exact science

Don't pretend to be inside Dempster's head

If you are calling him a liar, come out and say it

And back up your claim w something more than "doesn't smell right"

Poor post

Having first hand experience of the lengths AFL clubs will go to avoid media scrutiny and then use misinformation campaigns if it comes out, makes me skeptical.

Given the fact that the stated facts from stkilda, of when received he the concussion and that he has played after makes me question the 'full story'.

If I had a guess, I believe this is what has occur;

He received a knock to the head but would of played had he been playing AFL football but has had a few issues with concussion.

A review of the preseason has had the coaching staff say that he won't be first picked as they are going with a youth option.

Dempster's not happy to play out the season in the VFL and only play AFL on injuries. Especially as he had already had a few head knocks and doesn't want to risk it for VFL.

If he retires because of concussion he get's paid 50% of his 2017 salary in 2018 (it's an AFL compo thing for career defining injuries).

The club went through the footage to find the heaviest knock to his head to confirm he had the injury is from an incident in 2017 which ensures he gets the 2018 compo and golden handshake from the AFL.

There was no knock in the Carlton game so it was listed as occurring at the Port Adeliade game otherwise he may not have been entitle to the 2018 compo. As there is no way you would play 9 days later after receiving a concussion that is career ending.

There is not definitive test for concussion, and thats the issue with people like you

Player trashes his ankle, retires, and he gets full compo because the injury is deemed 100% career ending.

Because of people like you, concussion retirees struggle. "Does he reeeeaaaaly have to retire?". " Does he reeeeaaaaaaaly have a concussion?". "Are we reeeeaaaaaly sure he cant play?"

Look at dempster over his career. He is a low profile guy who has had role player gigs at his two clubs. He isnt the type you would expect to quit afl just because he got dropped as you are saying he did.

The guys career is over, and its due to injuries from the game. Show him some respect

Agreed. No one would just quit the earning potential the AFL provides... The guy is highly likely not to earn anywhere near what he has done in the AFL, especially as he doesn't seem the media type.

That's the point, as he retired from a career ending injury, thus he is paid his contract this year plus 50% next year. As a 34yr old I doubt he would of been contracted next year.

As for calling him a liar and show some respect.... how about you guys answer the question

Why did he play 9 days after receiving this injury???

Not many people have a career ending injury, play another match (hence it can't be referred to as career ending) then retire from the injury caused two games ago???

Are you ******* serious?

You know concussions can have lasting effects right? and is a lot more than feeling dazed for a few days after a knock. Just because you CAN play, doesn't mean you SHOULD play. No one knows which symptoms Demptser experienced to pull the plug, they can come and go but they would be enough to shake even the strongest competitor. A lot of players try to hang on longer than they should, many attempt to keep playing through an injury, this is no different.

Edit. Here's something to read seeing as you clearly have no idea http://time.com/4289745/nfl-concussion-symptoms-treatment/

Dempster has more at risk than missing out on 1 season of footy.

also his last sliding doors was when he finally jumped off the ross lyon bandwagon haha

i know a broken clock is right twice a day, but between him and hutchy, they have this uncanny ability to be wrong about absolutely everything.

What pisses me off is no one else says this... I know Rockliff has had his beef with him and beams called him Pinocchio but there is no one out there in the media who says "hang on a minute, this guys speaks absolute horse s**t and has zero credibility."

All the media says is "the number one news breaker" and garbage like that.

It's because 99.9% of football media is either in bed with each other or a part of the old victorian boys club. Melbourne footy journos are also terrified to bite the hand that feeds, regardless of how small the meal is. It's why some of the bigwigs of the afl and certain Victorian footy club CEO's escape harsh criticism, as oppsed to their interstate contemporaries

You're just mad because he called your mob flat track bullies. Then he said they weren't when they won. Then he said they were when they lost.

Completely agree.

LOL @ the whiners that can't deal with facts he has disclosed. THAT'S HIS FREAKIN' JOB!

He's in the best 3 or 4 journos in the game.

If he is actually getting black banned then that's indicative of the amount of hack whores who the clubs go to that have grossly diluted the AFL journo pool and are prepared to write anything to keep their sources placated..

Clubs will always choose a yes man over a real journo. Right robbo?
