If they lose to Swans, WCE and North then we WILL finish 4th even if we lose this week :D :thumbsu:
Be nice because I would give us a HUGE shot at beating the Swans at ANZ...

Agreed. We have a pretty good record up there & don't have too many recent big losses.

Bear in mind too, we only just got pipped by them last time when they were in great form & we were questionable at best!!

But they were also without mummy and goodes just returned and wasn't his best. I would still back our boys.

Very little chance of Varcoe or Vardy playing finals. With their severely limited conditioning neither would cope with the intense heat of finals footy and Chris is too wise a footy head to risk it IMO Anyhoo, the coach indicated today it was more likely the club would opt for Vards to be up and running for the start of 2013.

Post was half joking,

But I still think there is some merit in approaching a finals campaign from outside the top 5 a little bit differently.

No team has one under current system from outside Top 4, we are probably the best placed team (in terms of talent, experience and capability) to do this. However, given the intensity of the finals we might have to think outside the box and rotate a deeper squad through the four games (if were talking premierships that is!).

We have the depth - players like Wojack, Guthrie, Gillies, Stephensen, Simpson, Horlin-Smith, Schroder, Walker, Byrnes, Murdoch and yes, maybe even Varcoe and Vardy offer us a chance to do something a little different and try a few rotations through the finals. I realise its totally against the concept of finalising the best 22 and getting the synergy required within the team....but the fact is we have rotated the whole year and our depth offers us the capacity to try something a little different to give us an edge (VFL team dominating). I'm just talking about maybe rotating 4 or 5 fresh players in for a second final and then resting then rotating them out.

Anyways, will be interested to see how we approach the finals. Our depth is strong and to give us an edge I believe that we have genuine options over the course of a finals campaign.

Agree with most of that Gaz.

Players who miss out on a tough pre-season often say how much behind the eight ball it places them for the remainder of the year. Imagine how much more difficult it would be for players who have missed competitive football for almost all the year. Anyhoo, I have confidence in the match committee making the right calls.

And we are better chance at Anz than SCG where that game was.

Yeah exactly!!
Who knows, we may just scrape in to the top 4.
The double chance sure wouldnt hurt, especially if it means we secure a certain home Prelim.

The good thing is that Coll play the Eagles and the Swans play Hawthorn the day before our Dogs game, so when we run out on the Sunday we should know whether top 4 is still possible, and if so we should have a good idea of how much % we need to make it reality.

Too many assuming we'll beat WCE. In Perth with a further depleted midfield, a really tough ask. Without Kelly and Chappy, that would match last week's win .Corey still missing. Top 4 talk is way too fanciful until this time tomorrow night. Let's revisit this thought then.

+1

Chappy is definitely out?
Unknown, I'm accepting the rumour at this stage until we have proof he's playing.
We are definitely looking towards the future though and that's pretty exciting while we still have a sniff this year. The hope and the system we have at Geelong may be enough fuel to help these young ones meld into the type of performances we expect at this time of year.
Kelly is a massive out this week.

Probably 75% chance to finish 5-8, 20% chance top 4 and 5% chance to miss finals. Screw it, we've achieved everything over the last 5 years, let's win it from 8th!!!
