Injury Dane Swan

So it's okay for Swanny to play hard off the field but not any other players?

How do you tell your kids this?

When they are old enough I will explain it to them.

Like I said kids should stay kids as long as possible it's my take on parenting.
We will see if it works out in due course.

Fish aren't biting tonigh W A..........sorry to disappoint!

Getting smashed off your face regularly isn't exactly a team first mentality at the elite level.

And I don't mean with alcohol

So i take it that you know Swan personally or are you are using prejudices and stereotypes to form an opinion? It's your style to kick our best player of the last decade while his down? Show some respect. Swan has bled for Collingwood and you're frolicking around on the Internet with your usual bullshit.

You didn't address my first question.

I've said the same thing about Swan for 4+years on Bigfooty, trying to say I'm doing it because he is currently injured is very ignorant and quite a weak argument.

My opinion on Swan (off-field) is formed by what I have personally seen and what my close friends (who work at nightclubs) have seen, as well as what other people have reported or heard.

Prejudice and stereotypes? Give me a break and get your head out of the sand.

As I've said before, I have nothing bad to say about Swan's effort on-field.

W A no it is not......but he might be retiring (I hope not).

So is it necessary to kick him while he is down? Not in my opinion.

Didn't think this thread had overlapped into the drug thread......my bad!

Is my answer ok or are you going to follow up with me being a hypocrite as I think you were insuating?

For over a decade he's been one of our most spirited players, pushing through pain and helping to drag his team to victory. No one has competed as hard or as effectively as him, and yet you see fit to denigrate him the moment injury ruins him?

Plenty of players have been a bit dubious off-field, players like Carey and Hodge, but only the ignorant would question their commitment to team. Your comments in relation to Swan are, politely speaking, ignorant.

He will be getting a steel rod and screws because I reckon he snapped his tibia and perhaps his fibula in half...
if he snapped his tibia as well, take it from me he would not have walked of the ground, not possible

Ah yes, my mistake.

Swan is a brilliant player so let's all stick our heads in the sand and pretend his faults are non existent because it makes us all feel warm and cosy.

Reality sucks anyway.

What have you personally seen? Enlighten us.

Friends and hearsay is not valid. So really tell us all what you know to be true from having witnessed it with your own two eyes.

It has absolutely no relevance to his injury, it's been true his whole career and being injured doesn't make it more true or less true.

I'm not disputing he is a great player, but everyone knows what Swanny gets up to in his personal time (well, most people).

Anyway, no point going into more detail about this as clearly pointing out reality means I'm denigrating a player because he is injured.

Well I have heard the rumours but I really don't have any idea what Swan or any other players do with their off time. What I am questioning is your need to join the journos who like dragging his name through the mud on a day like today. Surely you can see it's not the time to dump on a Collingwood champ. Not sure what your motive is.

I can see you're the sort of person who likes to nurse the illusion that you're in possession of a reality which escapes the rest of us. And so I repay your sarcasm with my own: good for you.

Thing is, no one is blind to Swan's faults. The thing is we love the man despite his faults. The thing is that despite his failings and foibles he's played his f****** heart out for his team for over a decade, and he's performed for his team again and again and again... That's a part of the man's charm for Collingwood supporters and for supporters across the competition, but you've been so immersed in your 'reality' that you missed it. Pretty sad.

It would be more about the lack of evidence that his behaviour has been detrimental to the club. I have little interest what he does with his own time. I know he turns up and stars for Collingwood almost without fail. I don't believe he could do this if his preparation wasn't adequate.

Got nothing to do with warm and cosy, more to do with not feeling Swan has had an adverse influence on the club so not having a motive or desire to shoot him down.

Common Kappa let us all know what you have seen... You must have partied with Swan a number of times to have this inside information? You and Swanny good mates?

Wouldn't 3 breaks take much the same time to heal as 1 break?

Not if one of them is a lisfranc fracture - unfortunately Swanny is probably done for the season, as he won't even be starting rehab (weight-bearing) for 6-8 weeks and that's not good when you also take the lower leg fracture into account.

He'll basically have a noodle for a right leg when he loses the cast / walking boot and it's a long way back to regaining any sort of condition from there.

I think a lot of you are underestimating how strong willed Dane Swan is.

He'll be back.
I'm not, would love him to finish on his own terms, look forward to a return in the latter half of the season. You're right (IMHO), He'll be back!!

Don't want to intrude, but i'm doing a series of AFL illustrations and Swanny was next on my list.
I've got an instagram i'm posting them on if anyone is interested or has any requests.

Hope the big fella gets better soon.

Nice graphic. Swan's tatts look like the doodles of Keith Haring. Was he your influence?:)

Taking a bit of a break from BigFooty.

Seeing Swanny injured like was like having my guts torn out. Coming in here, hoping some of the rage may have subsided, to find the sort of bickering I'd hoped to avoid but thought I'd probably find... It's just not worth it.

See you in a while.

Side By Side.

Kappa doesn't strike me as much of a clubber tbh........he must take his laptop with him too because he's practically 24 hours a day on Big Footy.

Swanny is a very family oriented man who loves nothing more than a quiet cup of tea at home with his mother on a Saturday night. (am I doing this right?)

The guys a club legend and anything shy of him retiring on his own terms is very sad.

Couldn't believe it when I heard of his injury.:(
