Looks to me like one of those players who excels at one level, but hasn't got the weapons for the next level. If you are slow (and dane is), you have to have be very good at some thing else - hands or disposal or height or weight or evasiveness or toughness - and I can't think of anything that Dane offers that is special.

Missed a useful AFL career by one generation - in the old mudbaths he might have been a very good player.

Simple, he needs to become a Burns/Licuria type of player, ie. a clearance specialist. He could do a Licca and be a tagger-cum-genuine on baller if MM assigns him a role (not sure how his accountability is).

I think he'll do ok if given the opportunity.

I think he has been pretty good. He might not be that quick, but he's skills are alright. He is also very hard at the ball and a great tackler.

There are plenty more than him that should be cut.

yeah, impressed me on saturday, thought he got more of it than he actually did. but yeah, still needs to keep going although i do hope the kid comes through and plays quite a few more years for the club deservedly

Wasnt happy to see him in the forward line last Saturday. He's a back pocket/tagger, thats all. Could be a good palyer in that position though, but looks like a depth player, not ever a top ten "automatic selection".

Deserves a chance.

Not really trade bait because he's worth nothing in the open market. More likely to be trade bait at the end of 2006.

im with nick the pie man...rated him for a while

he slays them down at Willy....and i think there is a spot for him in the lineup, but as some have said, he is great at one level, but would struggle to improve greatly

in saying that, he isnt the type of bloke you would be wanting in the midfield in 3-4 years time, and with 50-70 games under his belt, defensive minded player is what his future most likely will be

Hard nut and great tackler.
Could turn out as a Burns type player(wishful thinking)

Have to question that. Saw him back away from a couple of contests right in front of me against Richmond. You don't neccessarily have to be hard nut to be agood footballer but you need some sort of weapon if your going to be like that, he doesn't seem to have one.

I've always rated this kid for some reason.. I just think he has some poise about him and thats one of the hardest things to get as a footballer.. always has time when he has the ball and doesnt rush his kicks.

Yes, Slow and yes we have many of these players but he can still make it.

I believe he is a very smart footballer

He really has been doing well across the half back line, because while he's slow, he seems to have a knack for reading the ball, and his disposal is usually faultless.

He's not a worldbeater, but there's no reason that he couldn't hold down a spot in this side.

Great game on the weekend by Billy. Goes to show what he can do. Since coming into the side he has rarley been beaten and has been very consistant another good game on the weekend.

his job on moving into the midfield and shutting down sam mitchell in the last quarter hasnt swayed you at all?

great game on saturday, really cemented his spot in the side for a while now and gave us another option to throw in as a tagger in the midfield if likka or burnsy get shut down like on saturday

ive been on the swanny bandwagon since beginning of '04, glad to see him play so well :)
