Did anyone catch the interview with Dangerfield tonight? Any chance anyone can upload it or at least share what it was about. I cant find it on 5aa website.

Yes, i heard it.

Patrick as usual was absolutely relaxed, speaking with a maturity beyond his years, but with his usual good sense of humour.

He was asked where he was likely to play most of his footy, and he replied that it would be mainly though the mid-field this year - a must IMO.

He was aked who was likely to come back this week and the only one he was sure of was Bock, although he thought a couple of others were getting close.

The inevitable question about his contract running out at the end of the year was raised. to which he laughingly tried to fob it off saying that was one for his manager. He just wanted to play good footy and the rest would take care of itself.

He wasn't allowed to get away with that, with Cornesy questioning Patrick at length about a proposed house purchase that fell through and was there any significance in that. If i got it right I think his response was that he's about to move into his own house at Henley Beach. Dangerfield then went on to say that when they were up at the Gold Coast, Goody had said to him that the Gold coast weather didn't agree with Dangerfield's complexion and there was probably some truth in that.

It finished with Cornesy saying something along the lines of Patrick playing good footy for the Crows in Adelaide in the future to which Patrick replied that it sounded good to him.

Another facscinating Dangerfield interview which as usual enhances his public image each time he talks in public.

I do think he's going to do a Tippett and get his form right up before he re-signs with us to maximise his dollars - and who could blame him for that. But he will re-sign.

The other thing that must be said - this kid is a natural leader type already at this very young age. His public speaking and persona is second to nobody's and on-field he's a dynamic physical leader who others will listen to and follow.

IMO it's VB to take over from Goody, with Dangerfield to take over from VB, all at the appropriate times. :thumbsu:

Hahaha, that's great :D

Appreciate the detail m23, and you're absolutely correct in terms of his impressive persona. I know a thing or two about good public speaking techniques myself and Dangerfield displays all the natural characteristics of a fantastic speaker, but he also comes off as a very natural and genuine guy, which is a rare combination indeed, let alone from someone so young. The Crows made no secret of the fact that they loved his leadership potential when they picked him up, and it's not hard to see why.

Coupled with the fact that he clearly stepped up the most of anyone on our list from 2009 to 2010, I agree that he's a monty to be our captain at some stage in the future. To be honest, if Goodwin does end up playing on in 2011, I wouldn't be surprised if Dangerfield becomes our next captain after him in 2012.

It's interesting that Dermott Brereton was on Radio the other day declaring his undying love for Dangerfield saying he was a dead set gun and likely to take the competition by storm THIS YEAR.

David Shwarze tried to play the praise down saying Dangerfield hasn't yet done anything yet to deserve more that having the "potential" to be very good.

But Brereton wasn't having any of that and got quite angry at Shwartz, going on for a good 5-7 minutes about how strong the kid was for his age and is going to be a powerhouse of the competition THIS YEAR

He's normally fairly measured old Dermott

Dermy will fire up for that which he feels strongly about.

Ox wouldn't have a clue about anyone but the stars.

Yep, sounds about in line with his "special comments" commentary, which is to in all cases state the bleedin obvious and not under any circumstances have an actual opinion of his own.

Take away his love afair with "the biff" and his lack of eloquence, Dermie is quite a good analyser of football, this is a pretty big wrap for young Patty.

I certainly miss Dermott's special comments. No one analyses the game in the commentary box better than Dermott and Bucks. Miss them both for those reasons. I reckon even Leigh Matthews is a bit out dated and he was an AFL coach about 18 months ago.

It annoys me how much commentators dont keep up with the game. They get outdated too easily and dont seem to keep up with modern tactics etc.

Dermott and Bucks were the exceptions. On the local front at least Rowey tries to keep his finger on the pulse. Cornsey talks like he knows everything but clearly the modern game is getting further and further away from him.

Any chance any recorded the Danger interview or even the Dermott spill?

James Hird is always worth listening to, obviously.

Was a good interview, Danger does sound like a great lad.

Like Macca, I'm pretty confident he expects this to be his breakout year, and he'd be foolish to sign a contract before he had the opportunity to increase his worth.

I'm not concerned about his future contract what so ever; he's said it before, and his dad was very firm about it a few weeks ago - he loves the Crows and intends to be a one club player.

Is it me or did Dangerfiled look absolutely exhausted in the NAB cup?
Is he perhaps not made to be a midfielder?

Thanks for the recap macca. :thumbsu:

Dangerfield does appear set to explode this year, we seem a lot more dynamic already when he's in the midfield.
The timing of Goody retiring and Danger becoming a main player should make for a pretty interesting decision for the captaincy between VB and Danger.

Have to agree on Dermott too, despite him being a bit of a twat, I always liked his special comments.
