I was just wondering if anyone else heard that scouts believe if Dangerfield was in the draft this year he would have gone top 5, after a fantastic year down at the falcons. is this true?

Perhaps, but so would most other top 10 draft picks from last year with an AFL preseason under their belts. If he didn't dominate TAC Cup we would be in serious trouble.

Realistically, he would have been a first round draft pick this year or last, so think of it as like us getting two pick 10's this year, with one of them being Dangerfield. Reading too much in to it is silly and pondering his value in this year's draft is impossible to do accurately.

You can argue that without an AFL preseason he wouldn't have had such a great year, but he did play very well for Geelong.

The thing that would probably count against him the most in this hypothetical is the propensity for the early draft picks to be used on bigs, particularly this year with so many promising ruck/kpp.

Always wondered where a new players go and live. Does the club arrange all that stuff?
yeah the club arranges all kinds of stuff like that the kids get home stay family and they look after you for about 3 years I think the club pays these people they also try to find work in the field they've studied for.

Ebert would go top 5 in this years draft... :p

On the serious side, hopefully we can get a good look at Dangerfield in the preseason cup.

I think a lot of them end up living with a more senior player, or in a share; I'm pretty sure I read an article about someone staying with Scott Stevens this year (possibly Dangerfield himself during preseason), plus those womanising V boys share a place.

the comments that excites me actually came from Budda Hocking

Budda rates Dangerfield as equal to Gary Ablett Jnr and Bartel at the same age

it is a big wrap

meh, what does that mean? I didn't think G Ablett was rated that highly as a kid?

1. It wasn't buddha who said that.
2. the value of a single, solitary afl pre-season is being massively overstated. without all the follow up work, any gains would be lost fairly quickly. Dangerfield is just being dangerfield in the tac cup. the preseason long stopped meaning anything.
after all, the game he kicked 8 from the goal square - improved fitness would've meant nothing.

Neither of them would. Unless maybe Adelaide had a pick in the Top 5 coz we seemed to rate Danger so highly. He would not go Top 5 in this draft, even after the year he has had.

Also, Crow-Mo is right regarding that comment not being made by Buddha. It was Mick Turner, Geelong's Region Manager. Though it wouldn't surprise me if Buddha had come out and said the same thing. I definitely heard Turner say this mid way through the year though.

Vic Crow - what does Daniel Rich have that Danger does not if he would obviously be taken higher in this year's draft. I have read some people on the D and T board express doubts about Rich. Interested on your thoughts as I havn't seen him at all.

Daniel Rich is just ****ing awesome at footy. Very classy and has a lot of polish in his game - polish isn't exactly Paddy's strong suit. Think back to a few years ago when you'd look at Bryce Gibbs' testing times and he was not outstanding in any particular area, but he just understands how to play footy. Reads the play well, goes to all the right spots, and my favourite thing of all, he's a beautiful kick. Penetrating left foot. He's also a very good clearance player and is smart around the stoppages.

Now see, I'm not saying we should participate in draft tampering or anything like that, just... you know... break a few of his bones or something that will take 12 months to recover from so maybe he slides out to tenth pick, that's all. Nothing sinister...

After all the criticism that Adelaide copped for not picking Ebert,
it is ironical that Adelaide actually rated Ebert higher than (probably) every other club.
