I apologise in advance if this has been discussed in previous threads. I realise that he is contracted until end of 2010 and there was talk of an extention around the same time as Tippett's resigning (along with the fab four), but I haven't heard anything since. Can anyone enlighten me on the current situation - don't care if it is fact or (reliable) rumour. The commencement of pre-season training has got me a tad nervous on this subject.

He's contracted to the end of 2010. To be precise, the 31st October 2010 - 11 1/2 months away.

The club does most of their contract negotiations in the middle of the year. Nothing to get nervous about.
Dangerfield will be to 2010 as Tippett was to 2009

I doubt that. Tippett's situation with the GC was somewhat unique. If he went there he would have been their "banner" player. They had the capacity to pay him a ridiculous sum of money - and they could have had him for free as an uncontracted player.

There's nothing to link Dangermouse with GWS and none of the Victorian teams will have anything like the strategic advantages on offer to GC.

He'll sign mid-late in the year, just as the rest of our youngsters did in 2009.

Not a doubt in my mind either Vader.

Dangerfield is like Tippett - he enjoys the environment and can sense that this group is on the verge of doing something special.

He will re-sign with the Crows IMO - no doubts at all.

No he won't be.
1. There's no new team from his hometown that can steal him for nothing and offer him buckets of money.
2. The club allowed him to be contracted, but stay in his home state to finish school and only train every now and then - then he comes to pre season training in 08 in a condition he shouldn't have been in.
3. I doubt Roo would've given him his guernsey unless he was here for the long run.

If he's contracted to the end of 2010 then he's eligible for Gold Coast "free agency" right?

Now you wouldn't think it would play out in the media the same as Tippett, but there could be some parallels.

If he has as good a year as we hope, then he'll have an incentive to delay re-signing as long as possible to take best advantage of the GC leverage.

I wouldn't think he'd actually go, but he could use it as leverage for a better deal, and that would probably lead to some speculation.

I've always got the impression that Dangerfield and his parents were mightily impressed at how the Crows were willing to let Dangerfield stay at school in his first year and love the professionalism of the club, and that Patrick wants to stay there for as long as possible.

He'll re-sign, no question in my mind.

agree.

Vader, what I meant in relation to Tippett 09 like Dangerfield 10.
the Media (mainly Vic, and Rucci articles) will say he's going home

Dangerfield being a Victorian, and whenever a Vic club is interested in him, the Vic media will become hopefull that club will get him (weaken us because they dont want us performing [more $ if story is about Vic club] and will strengthen the Vic club), then Rucci will do some article about, eg. Essendon doing everything to get Danger.

I'm not worried he'll leave, just like I wasn't worried Tippett would leave (check my posts if you want, I was asked, "how do you know?" when I said he would stay, because people were 99% certain he would leave), but I can just see now, the Vic media, and Rucci (because he doesnt like us) putting out Danger leaving stories in the newspapers all bloody year.

I can just see it will be the same for Walker in 2011 regardless off form, just because he's from NSW with West Sydney coming in (ill decide later if I want him gone, atm I just want him to hold down a top 22 spot, without being gifted it)

This article helps show we are doing something correct and things are going nicely with interstate recruits.

THE Crows have developed such a strong culture that players from interstate no longer want to return home, two of Adelaide's "foreign legion" said yesterday.

And Western Australia's Nathan van Berlo and Victoria's Brent Reilly have vowed to play a bigger role with interstate recruits from Thursday's draft.

I think Dangerfield contract will run and expire parallel to Kurt Tippett over the years. I think he will stay and sign a 3 year deal.

You are a dead set idiot. Nowhere, absolutely nowhere has he ever been gifted anything, in fact, if anything he has been held back to help his development.

Yeah he has 3 or 4 less than auspicious games last year but anyone who kicks approximately 110 goals in 40 odd games of football over 2 seasons deserves that privilege. You are a clown, get your head out of your arse and stop trying to be an argumentative prick on this subject.

I don’t really care if you want to be an argumentative prick but don’t do it on a subject where the evidence is not favoured heavily against you. Suggesting Taylor Walker getting gifted games, simply shows you are just looking to argue with people.

The more I read Riggys posts I dont think he is trying to be argumentative, he just doesnt have a clue

Walker is far from being gifted games. In fact I would say the opposite. He has kicked bags of goals for Norwood, one oif the worst teams in the SANFL, and yet gets no Crows call up. The reason is that Craigy wants him to be a well rounded player, not just a goal square wonder who can only contribute in the forward 25 and goes missing when the pressure is applied. Like another young forward who's name ryhmes with softhoff.

Gee didn't realise he wasn't extended, just assumed he would be.(along with Tippet)..they better secure his services otherwise there will be a 'big outcry' from supporters!...homesickness is a major concern for any young interstater, but the lure of the GC is IMO, even more of a concern...

What is Patrick’s university status?

Does anyone know if he has he enrolled in anything for 2010?

Last I heard, he was looking at doing marine Biology and if you were going to study marine biology anywhere in Australia, it would be on the gold coast with sea world, underwater world, the Great Barrier Reef and so many different natural resources so close.

Hopefully he has enrolled in something (even if it’s part time) as this will give him a secondary area of friends that he may not want to leave.

This may be an issue but I doubt it as he seems to be a sensible kid. As I said earlier, he will sign for 3 years (gut feel) and if we are ever going to lose him, it will be to Geelong.

maybe irrelevant in the scheme of things, but heard hes parents are mad keen Geelong supporters..even wore the Geelong gear when we played then this year at Skilled Stadium..you'll think they would at least support the side their son's playing for...

Who said they don’t?

I don’t have a problem with them supporting Geelong, that has been their lifelong team after all but as long as they show us support as well. “There is not written law that say you must only support one football club”

BTW – and it was mentioned in detail on here, his parents were in the Geelong president lunch before the Crows Vs Geelong game at Skilled Stadium.

I don't think that's really true now is it?

Danger was also a die-hard Geelong supporter. Most players don't get to go to the team they grew up supporting and it may be "tough" for some parents to change teams, so they'll still support the team they always have plus support the team their son/s play for.

Symes' mother went to the 07 grand final and barracked Geelong when her son was playing against them - which was wrong since she's a Crows supporter and I only would've agreed with her supporting her son's opposition team if it was the Crows - she's just lucky Symes never played in a Showdown when he played for Port!

There was a sensational article written by Danger's grandfather, in which he discussed his transition from lifelong Geelong fan, to Adelaide fan within the space of our game at Skilled earlier this year.
It was a sensational read. I'll see if I can dig it up.
Edit: http://footyalmanac.com.au/?p=3896 enjoy!
