Yeah I mean he's not worth a first rounder. I'd suggest we want the equivalent of two first rounders, like pick 9 and Cockatoo, not pick 9 and Murdoch. He's a genuine line breaker, currently we have one Brodie Smith....

If the shoe was on the other foot, I wouldn't be trading the farm to get him - nope. He is a good player, but how good he is going to be over the length of his next contract, I'm not sure.So you're saying that he isn't someone who's worth anywhere near 2 first rounds picks, let alone more.
Lol I just snorted coke out through my nose seeing that

If WCE match with Selwood then they're idiots. Geelong walks. Scott doesn't hold a candle to Joel, and as far as I'm concerned he's just a good honest plodder. Adelaide matching for Danger is a completely different story altogether. I don't think WCE will match, though. I think that article is a load of shit. Adelaide I believe harbour genuine desires to match, and so they should if they have the cap to match and believe Geelong will trade. If WCE match on S Selwood, Geelong will probably just walk away. He's Van Berlo with a B&F.
No way.I guess we could, but it could be worth anything from 1 to 18. I'm not sure how much currency that would carry in a trade.
If we did do that, then surely we are then trading a future pick which would leave us unable to trade a future pick of our own for that year?
I call bs on this comment. The whole "own" vs "team" is a disgrace. He is no different from other players whose desire to get the ball is greater than others....Fyfe, Boak, Pendles...etc. Seriously?
Each to their own, I guess.Seriously.
Using the compo picks helps Geelong a lot more than us.Posters have dismissed David King's comments, but there might be something in them. The compo pick is a first-round freebie that gets thrown into the mix.
It also sounds like the AFC and AFL have been communicating about what deals will wash.
I wouldn't put it past Fagan et al to think outside the box.
Yeah - Geelong have a big problem with their list. They might have to let a player or two go for multiple draft picks - or give up a pick for multiple players.just to clarify.....geelong want, Dangerfield, Henderson, Selwood, smith, and according to their supporters, somehow every single player of theirs is an untouchable and will not be up for trade. Can't wait to see how this plays out
Have you read any of the last 100 pages of this thread? What you outline above has been discussed about 63 timesI'm not sure if this has been mentioned as yet, but is there a possibility that Adelaide and Geelong come to an agreement where Adelaide allows danger to leave, accepts the compensation pick meaning there is one more first rounder in the mix and then Geelong and Adelaide do a trade in such a way where Geelong sends their first round draft pick to Adelaide and possibly a player or another draft pick from this year or next?
Obviously this doesn't sound legal and it would be a big FU to the AFL, but it would be in both clubs best interest for this to happen. Geelong would see this as a massive win, only giving up 1 first round pick instead of 2. Adelaide will see it as a win getting their 2 first round draft picks and to even up the kitty, a player might be thrown in or maybe Geelong's second round draft pick from next year???
I'm sure this wouldn't be allowed, but if it was a loophole, there may be a possibility of both clubs coming to a handshake agreement before trade week.

Maybe go back a few pages and have a look-see?
Unless pick 14 compo somehow is sliding in the side door too.Murdoch and Pick 9 is a shit deal
Cheers, thanks for the write upSorry, and sorry, for some reason I thought Murdoch's missus was from Geelong. But nonetheless, Jordan is a 190cm outside mid. He's got pace to burn and a huge left boot on him. His biggest knock is that he can go missing in games and doesn't seem to read the play that well which doesn't help the cause. He has elite skills and his disposal by foot can be good, but it's usually through poor decision making rather than skill that will see him turn the ball over, often out of defence. To me he is a bit of a downhill skiier, he can do some brilliant things and really complement a good team but when the chips are down he can go missing. I hate to say it, but in a team like Hawthorn he'd look a million bucks. In a team like Melbourne however... he'd probably be de-listed by now.
I know but the post was started with "I'm not sure if this has been mentioned as yet" ... just made me twitch a littleOutofTownCrow Ummmm....this thread would not of moved past page one if that was a thread rule.. (No repeating)
i hate the idea of somehow using that compo pick in a dodgy trade ... we need to make them weaker because thats what they're doing to us. no doubt the afl would not allow that, not to mention the rest of the comp...
even if we did that, its geelong that wins, not us because they need to pay 2 first rounders + a player of value.
We shouldn't need to lose anything other than danger......that David king idea had us giving geelong Lyons and our first rounder. What for? Over complicating itYour too focused on making Geelong pay. We should be focused on what we can get. If Geelong can deliver us 2 first rounds (one could be next year) and player that we are happy with then do you really care about how Geelong do it.
I reckon they'd be working out exactly what the most acceptable secondary sweetener deal is though.Piggy was spot on, wouldn't get past Ken Wood.
