What about a secondary trade?

If we don't match it would want to be one hell of a side deal we've lined upMy guy feel tells me Adelaide wont match either.
I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong on this.
I imagine we'd be too busy posting in the "**** Fagan/Noble" thread to be posting in here. Will this thread still be open if the crows don't match?

Waste of time .....won't get AFL approval ...and FFS after Tippetgate why would the club do anything remotely controversial that will raise the ire of the other AFL clubsIf we don't match it would want to be one hell of a side deal we've lined up
Cut it out, Frank Costa has brains and ability to start with but he does have one thing in common, he's delusional regarding the PD process.Mahlepi are you Frank Costa?

ADELAIDE
Who's in play?
Everything revolves around the Patrick Dangerfield situation. The Crows need to get maximum compensation for a franchise player. A potential deal with Geelong could involve the two clubs agreeing to trade without the Crows officially matching the Dangerfield offer. That way the Crows can use the AFL compensation pick in an exec age of picks and players. They should end up with the Cats' first-round pick in any event.
Other AFL clubs will raise hell as it impacts the draft order too muchThe only way I see Adelaide not matching is that the AFL have decided to give us another compensation pick.
Agree, however can also see the AFL falling back to their 'secret herbs and spices' formula to justify any changes. This will be quickly followed by the scrapping of any compensation so they won't have to deal with it ever again!Other AFL clubs will raise hell as it impacts the draft order too much
My biggest fear in all this is that there might be a Tippett type side deal with Dangerfield. Hopefully not but once bitten twice shy!Waste of time .....won't get AFL approval ...and FFS after Tippetgate why would the club do anything remotely controversial that will raise the ire of the other AFL clubs![]()
They'd be raving mad to have done anything .....as i understand the clubs protocols after Tippettgate make another side deal almost impossibleMy biggest fear in all this is that there might be a Tippett type side deal with Dangerfield. Hopefully not but once bitten twice shy!
The key bit of the article is that Geelong believes Adelaide won't match.
The rest of the sentence is Ralph's opinion - that if we do have to trade, Danger is worth it. You won't find a Geelong supporter who disagrees with that, though of course we would prefer to keep our picks and players if possible.
Ralph has obviously been talking to someone/several people at Geelong to know that the club is not expecting the deal to be matched. He was one of the first reporters to say on the record that Danger would be a Cat in 2016, earlier this season.
Highly, highly unlikely since the AFL fully audited all our books and electronic records post Tippett. My biggest fear in all this is that there might be a Tippett type side deal with Dangerfield. Hopefully not but once bitten twice shy!
Yeah but Danger re-signed midway through 2012 and the Tippett secret deal broke towards the end of 2012 and we put things in place after that. Remember that what is said publicly is not necessarily the truth. They'd be raving mad to have done anything .....as i understand the clubs protocols after Tippettgate make another side deal almost impossible
I meant the proposed swap of picks and a player that some in the media have been suggesting (alongside accepting the compo pick), with the pick(s) then jagging us a quality player from a 3rd club. Not suggesting any funny business .. we've proven we don't do that well.Waste of time .....won't get AFL approval ...and FFS after Tippetgate why would the club do anything remotely controversial that will raise the ire of the other AFL clubs![]()
maybe something like 9 and murdoch for kerridge and our 2nd, we get compo from afl for not matchingKane McGoodwin .....Kane am i dumb or does this article just not compute
How in the hell do we end up with pick 9 .......so we give Grigg as an example for #9 ...the AFL won't sign-off on that
Any other configuration simply results in us having only #14 for Dangerfield

If we dont make a stand now and just roll over it will be the last straw for many afc supporters. If I'm to be objective taking into consideration how we've behaved in past trades, especially where the player has walked out on the club, the evidence suggests that we'll be accommodating rather than hard lined.
I just think that some posters are using double standards when it comes to players either leaving the club, or being recruited by your club. That's all.
gotta say if we roll over I'm not sure it will be worth forking out for membership. I can handle sticking it out in the natural cycle of up's and down's. But after getting ripped off in '05 and '06, and with the year we've had, if this is handled badly it will cut us off at the knees before our run even starts. The club need to match and make a stand. If we dont make a stand now and just roll over it will be the last straw for many afc supporters.
