Cut it out, Frank Costa has brains and ability to start with but he does have one thing in common, he's delusional regarding the PD process.
The only way I see Adelaide not matching is that the AFL have decided to give us another compensation pick.

How in the hell do we end up with pick 9 .......so we give Grigg as an example for #9 ...the AFL won't sign-off on that
Any other configuration simply results in us having only #14 for Dangerfield

Agree, however can also see the AFL falling back to their 'secret herbs and spices' formula to justify any changes. This will be quickly followed by the scrapping of any compensation so they won't have to deal with it ever again!
My biggest fear in all this is that there might be a Tippett type side deal with Dangerfield. They'd be raving mad to have done anything .....as i understand the clubs protocols after Tippettgate make another side deal almost impossible
If Geelong still believe that Adelaide will not match their offer (rumoured to be about 800k), they are dreaming. Jay Ralph have been keeping the same line for months now, other clubs know it's going to the trade table and rumoured to see if they can trade for Danger if the trade with Adelaide fails.

Highly, highly unlikely since the AFL fully audited all our books and electronic records post Tippett.
Yeah but Danger re-signed midway through 2012 and the Tippett secret deal broke towards the end of 2012 and we put things in place after that. Remember that what is said publicly is not necessarily the truth.
Not saying there is a side deal but I am nervous about it given the history. It makes no sense to not match unless AFL is in one some dodgy deal and guiding us through it (i.e. don't match and we will approve the heavily favoured deal for pick 9 for you).
AFL copped a shallacking for Buddy compo and they might be navigating both clubs on trade "ideas"!

I meant the proposed swap of picks and a player that some in the media have been suggesting (alongside accepting the compo pick), with the pick(s) then jagging us a quality player from a 3rd club. So people are basing their case for us not matching on the AFL approving a seriously lopsided and dodgy side-deal for Geelong's first round pick?
That's ridiculous. It's also draft-tampering.

If we dont make a stand now and just roll over it will be the last straw for many afc supporters.
Nature of the beast though really.
When Betts came here I could completely understand that Carlton fans might be pissed. It's not their fault their club thought Thomas was a better investment. Likewise I dont blame Geelong fans for being over the moon, doesnt mean I can't think Paddy is a complete campaigner though.
Haven't checked in for a while here, has a Collingwood offer been discounted?
gotta say if we roll over I'm not sure it will be worth forking out for membership. I can handle sticking it out in the natural cycle of up's and down's. But after getting ripped off in '05 and '06, and with the year we've had, if this is handled badly it will cut us off at the knees before our run even starts. The club need to match and make a stand.
