****... pies got way more for beams... shit deal if it's true

They didn't. (Got 5, 25 and Crisp who had played 18 games in 3 years for one of the worst sides in the league).

It only seems like more because the young player they got ended up having a break out year and they drafted fantastically.

How is that not more?

5 > 9
25 > 28
Crisp with 18 Games >>>>>>> Gore

Than you add the minor detail that Beams isn't as good as Danger... and Beams wasn't the best player in his team.

I wish people wouldn't ****ing compare who got what for whom.

Hawthorn got next to nothing for Buddy and Geelong got little for Ablett. Treloar may well go for two first rounders. Collingwood definitely got overs for Beams. You have to take into account that we would have received compo pick 14 if they'd gone the free agency route and we didn't match. It appears they haven't gone the free agency route, and a trade is being fleshed out. If we can get pick 9, pick 28 and Gore (for example), we'll have two first round picks, and two second round picks to further trade or use in the draft. We are infinitely better off than if we'd picked up 14 alone (ie. no top 10 pick), or made him enter the draft for nothing.

I will wait and see the complete end result from the whole trading period and what we are doing with those picks before I throw my toys out of the pram, if that is the deal.

I would prefer two firsts and a Gore, but as you said that is better than just pick 14 or nothing.

Don't think that trade is as bad as it looks. The kid will be on bugger all money so we will have a war chest and picks 9 & 13 to try and land a bigger fish.
You don't find bigger fish suddenly out of nowhere during the trade period....

It's a minor improvement but as it's still a 1st, 2nd and promising youngster it's not heaps more as stated, it's more it's the market value for a star player who wants to go home.
