It has been widely reported that Patrick will not want to weaken the club which he will join.
Well that's true. If he joins Carlton or Brisbane via the PSD those clubs will get stronger not weaker.

That's funny Sanders considering you spent six months telling us how there was no chance the crows would match. Not to mention your little rumour he had signed. Can we ban crows supporters from this thread?
It would be a lot more interesting & respectful with only opposition supporters

If a deal can't be done and patty signed on for 2 more years I honestly don't know whether I'd be happy. We will likely lose him for nothing with the possibility that even comp picks are gone then.
Patty for 2 years or 2 first rounders plus a fringe player. I'm leaning towards the latter...

I'd bank one of the first rounders, and look at using the second for an up and coming mid from the likes of GWS or GC, or whomever else fits the bill. I think we're in our premiership window right now, so waiting for two draftees to hit their straps may not be the best option. So I might do something random and look at the positives from this. If we come out of this with a pair of first rounders, do we draft or trade them for someone? And this would give us some serious spare cash to put some big bids for other guys looking to move yes/no?
Do you seriously think geelong won't walk away from a bad deal? In trading and drafting you have to think of it from a list view, not a individual player view. Like I said 8 spots to fill, so in your mind we trade pick 9, a player and next years pick 7-12 approx (first round).
Geelong then have to get walker to Carlton plus a second round pick.
Get selwood in for free.
Put on top of that next year, bartel Mackie, longagan and enright retire. Leaving these picks in the draft for the next to years.
2015
45,63,81,99,117,135,153,171
Picks we HAVE to use to fill up the list.
2016
35,53,71,89 (approx)
Look at those picks!!!! Do you seriously think that geelong are going to fill up MINIMUM 12 spots on there list out of 40 with these picks?? Geelong have a responsibility to get those 12 picks in the next 2 years as low as possible as list transition is vital for us at this stage. Hence geelongs chasing of free agents and trying to get danger for nothing, get selwood in cross out pick 170. The plan was get danger in cross out pick 150. The danger plan failed, you guys (fagan and roo) have said NO way, give us picks, but as you can clearly see from above geelong seriously cannot contemplate have 12 picks in the next few years drafts like that just to get danger. It's madness and suicide.
Not. going. to. happen.
If you were geelong would you do it? Let your list end up like that? Seriously? Just for Danger?
I'm not arguing dangers market value, nor adelaides right to match the offer. Just that geelong will offer what they can, clearly under market value, and if not they'll walk away. The damage to the club if they don't is clear to see. The list is far more important than the individual.
Danger is better than selwood btw, this year clearly went passed him.
For the life of me I cannkt understand how crows supporters would be ok with losing patty for nothing if he goes into a draft. Because that's what will happen. Give up arguably the best player in the comp for a big fat 0.
And you'll end up with nothing for him? Do you really think AFC would rather let that happen than make a deal with Geelong, even if it slightly upsets some of their fans?
Trigg will be regarded as a saviour.

You are reaching Trigg levels of fail with your PD insights![]()
Won't happen so you won't have to make that decision. If a deal can't be done and patty signed on for 2 more years I honestly don't know whether I'd be happy. We will likely lose him for nothing with the possibility that even comp picks are gone then.

Was obviously meant as an extremely unlikely possibility, but I was just making the point that he ultimately does have a lot more control over his destiny than a lot on here and in the media think he does.
And you'll end up with nothing for him? Do you really think AFC would rather let that happen than make a deal with Geelong, even if it slightly upsets some of their fans?

He can refuse to play anywhere he doesn't want to, ultimately he could do anything he wanted even retire for a year rather than play anywhere if he wasn't happy with where he was going...Make no mistake he holds all the cards.

Please can we have a carving knife instead of steak knives? Mark Blicavs would be a great carving knifeIt will end up being 2015 and 2016 1st rounders. Murdoch might be the steak knives.

I recon you'd get more joy from Collingwood, Carlton wouldn't do a deal as they just need to wait for PSD and get him for free. Pies on the other hand are no chance at PSD.With other clubs not hiding the fact they will take Patrick in a heart beat if he goes into the national or ps draft it will be Geelong who ends up with nothing because they refused to trade. In the end if Geelong refuse to come to the table and roll the dice, we may have words with Patricks manager and suggest Carlton or Melbourne are offering this can you work a contract, he can get to one of these clubs, he might just say yes!
Retiring for a year, at his peak, when the games evolving/changing so quickly, is the stupidest thing i've seen all year from Geelong trolls.
If there is no deal doesn't the matched deal stand - 6 years at 800kIf a deal can't be done and patty signed on for 2 more years I honestly don't know whether I'd be happy. We will likely lose him for nothing with the possibility that even comp picks are gone then.

This thread was going well last niteReally appreciate that. Play on.
You are getting shafted. Two first round picks for a top five player in the comp is unders. You'll never hear me say anything to contrary. There's just one problem is though, I don't care whether you're getting shafted or not. I don't support Adelaide, I support Geelong. And if I think that Geelong has a chance to get a top five player in the comp WITHOUT giving anything up to get him, then that will be my persuasion.
As the situation stands, I think there's a very real possibility that Geelong can get Danger FOR NOTHING, and you guys get nothing in the process if you stand in the way of us and Dangerfield's wishes to return home. I'd prefer if the AFL gave you two first round compo picks to save the argy-bargy, but in the end I think you guys will not cut your noses off to spite face, and accept the comp pick (as unfair as it is) as you don't have the upper hand.

#stitchedupThe only reason Danger said Victiora and not Geelong because he hasn't thought about who club he wanted to go to
In all seriousness I think he said Geelong his previous denials would sound even more hollow. This way he can say he's leaving but not to Geelong
