Please stop comparing our current side sans Dangerfield to those Hawks and Geelong sides sans Franklin and Ablett Jnr.

I'll compare what I want thanks .

I'm responding to the point that those other players left after a flag - hence MY point that Danger in your team does not guarantee a flag

Now
Off that high horse .....please:rolleyes:

I actually think its very weird hes said hes going home to ' victoria '. Victoria has 9 teams. Does this mean he is just going to sit back and see what offers flood in? Geelongs piss poor effort in offering a top 5 player in the afl and triple aa, most probably club champion and brownlow medallist a low ball offer should open it up for pies, hawks, tigers, blues and bombers to throw mega $$$ at him. Thats of course if hes willing to move to melbourne instead of geelong. Id love to see him in a carlton jumper personally.

This has been covered before.

The free agency windows technically doesn't open until 9th October. Under the rules Dangerfield is not supposed to receive any free agency offer until 9/10/2015, so he can't say that he has agreed to accept Geelong's offer because the AFL rules state that one shouldn't exist yet.

Patrick will do whats right for him, like we should do whats right for us. We match, like we are able to do in the rules that the AFLPA and clubs, including Geelong signed off on, and he becomes an un-contracted player, for us to trade, or he walks to the PSD.

I have a feeling we will skip the matching step or if we have to do it, only as a technicality and then go straight to trading, for something less than we would get if we did match and were willing to lose him if Geelong don't come to the table but more than compensation.

I'm not sure I'd be happy with that outcome.

How likely do you think it would be for us to let him go to the PSD if Geelong aren't willing to trade anything of value.

If we knew that Carlton, Melbourne or even Brisbane would take him, I actually wouldn't mind not getting anything for him.

It may take something like that to happen to slow the walk out of gun players we develop in the future.

What if no one makes him an offer!? He really should have waited to see if Geelong wanted him first...

If we can't get player replacements and a ready to go coach - we are in a rebuild.

I don't think it's really hit yet the impact of having to get a new coach. Add this into the mix and we're in full rebuild mode if we can't nail replacement players AND a great coaching option.

Not trolling but is the last name a joke? Definitely a good player but not recognised with that type of attitude at all.
Actually yes he does. He is one of the few guys we have that is willing to get stuck in to someone. You don't see it a lot, because as a club we just don't do it, but he will when the opportunity is provided.

At the same time Adelaide should not do every thing in there power to force him to stay if he wants to go let him

Matching isn't about forcing him to stay. It helps Adelaide get the best compensation possible. If Adelaide match it doesn't force Patrick to sign with the Crows, he just becomes an unsigned Crows player who can then be traded or he can choose to nominate for the draft.

FFS, at least read up on matching if you're going to come on our board and talk about it.

Im pretty confident he will stay.

Lol, which was in response to a post from you that mentioned Eagles losing Judd, Geelong losing Ablett Jnr, Hawks losing Franklin, meh, life goes on etc.. etc.... So what exactly is your point? Because mine is that we aren't even close to being as good as those sides were. The fact that our current side has zero premierships under its belt, unlike the other 3 you mentioned, supports that. One of these things is not like the other.

We better match whatever comes from whatever club offers it. We should 100-% be able to match anything in the vicinity of 800-1.1M$.

We could get so much more from a club like Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood, Hawthorn than we would from Geelong.

Really uncomfortable with this. "Patty you're so brave..."

Seriously?
No joke. Why the hell would he tweet that today of all days? Either someone's pranked him, or even more evidence, beyond that shown on-field, that he's got zero pride in the jumper.

why did he have to lie so much just dont talk?
ive got no doubt most players now days see us as customers rather than supporters.
It's Danger. He's not one to avoid the media spotlight.

And THAT is the only reason I'm pissed off

He goes - he goes
But this whole circus had been sickening frankly

Just heard Rory on the radio

THAT'S a one club player who bleeds for the jumper

Lose him and I WILL neck myself in the shed !

I'm with you, but I think it would be too hard for them to pass up the pick even if it was Pick 16, if they have identified an available player in the draft, or have something else lined up that Pick 16 could be used for, even if the players identified are no where near Dangerfield's worth.

I think make it easy, we're all still friends and whatever else and then letting him go for compo only will make it easier for a guy like Talia, Crouch, or whoever is next to do the same. It also sends a message to every other club, we develop good players, great guys off field and they are easy to poach. Time to stand up as a club.
