I do. Connors and Dangerfield together will go all out to discourage any other club picking him up in the draft. I really cant see another club interfering. None of them are ruthless enough to do it. It would be a very ruthless move to take him against his will knowing that he wants to get to Moggs Creek and his family. No club will do it despite a very strong case for it.
That would be draft tampering. He wouldn't make it past Essendon IMO, they'd snap him up. I think 2x first rounders will get it done, but if Jordan Murdoch is on the table id be happy to take 1 first, a second and him.

We will take pick 9 and a player like Murdoch or pick 9 and 2nd round pick next year

Them is the breaks , all about what we do with our trading and drafting from there

of course there is. its all win.
you get the guy for nothing, he plays for nothing. there is no risk to you of injurty, and you have a year to convince him to change his mind.

you retain his full trade rights.

his trade rights alone make the investment all win, without getting a year of his prime for nothing.
Yeah yeah, it sounds great on paper, but no club will actually do it. Poor Patty wants to go home, clubs need to respect his wishes and let him be with his family blah blah blah. Clubs wont do it.

Yeah they will, its happened before and it'll happen again.

Not much incentive for a club to do it either though.
Are you kidding? Get a top 3 player for free? His trade value alone is incentive enough, even if he doesn't play one game.

I'm surprised at you WD, Connors has spooked you. His role in this is minimal now. He's negotiated a deal for Pat with Geelong, now it's up to the clubs to work it out. Connors can have an opinion, but its of little consequence.

Ive been saying it all along.

And PD loses FA completely. No more - "He'll come to us in 2 years for nothing" - Geelong would have to trade in full for him. PD could not nominate a club or he'd have to go through the same thing again.

All hot-air. There is no way his agent or PD will put themselves into that position.

Sure the compensation pick might be on the table, but if AFC cannot get more than that from Geelong I'd be disappointed.

for a player like that? I can hear them now at the press conference "backing in their culture to make it a place he wants to stay".

I think its very, very similar to Luke Ball & Skirt but for a couple of key differences:

1. there is no financial impact. both Ball & Skirt had prohibitive costs on their head
2. neither of them was/is a true superstar player. they were different levels of player.

I believe those differences will be key

Lets hope so.

Coz nothing will be more embarrassing than seeing him go to Geelong in the draft.

Champ? No worries Tiger - maybe if you thnik its fun to go over them again, then you might also enjoy going back over the thread content before you post something that has been over about 17 times before.

No, I said we'd move on. But you get mad easy, don't you?

agreed it won't be a good look, and will give Rooch material for the next decade
If your negotiation is impacted by "not wanting to look like a dick if you fail", then you have no place at the table. No room for ego in negotiation.

McCarthy didn't want to leave Melbourne, ends up at Port, Stevens wanted Collingwood and ended up in the VF...... err Carlton. Not saying it happens often because it doesn't, but given the reported size of his contract it won't scare clubs off.
