my recollection of you is as a hostile keyboard hero; at least have the cojones to maintain one personality from board to board
This is a very good point if folks like Stan The Caddy want to come here and have intelligent conversation all well and good, but if they think we will just forget their hostility on their own board they are dreaming. You cant have it both ways Stan.

Jesus, some of these guys sprout rubbish - no wonder we battle to get a sensible conversation out of some people when this is where they build their knowledge base from !!

Peter Ryan and Nathan Schmook

Patrick Dangerfield (Adelaide)

Where's he going?
Returning to Geelong to be near family at Mogg's creek and his fiance's family in Geelong.

How will he get there?
Trade expected to include Geelong's first round draft pick, No.9, and potentially a second round pick in this year's draft, which is currently pick No.28 for the Cats. Seems a fair deal for all parties for a player who has given eight years good service and could have threatened to go to the NAB AFL Draft and leave the Crows with nothing.

That last sentence is cringeworthy for an AFL "journalist".

If he goes to draft it will be 100:1 odds than he chooses psd over ND

ND has much more chance of getting him to Geelong, because picks have value in ND they are free in the psd
Correct & 50:1 odds on trading v ND... ;)

Fact is Phil Walsh chose Taylor Walker after evaluating the players leadership skills and performance over the preseason and that along with his "Team First" attitude, also said the high regard in which the whole playing held Tex was a factor.

Dangerfield wasn't considered by Walsh...end of story.

I agree

Team first doesn't mean someone who potentially had one eye on the exit door.

Walsh was smart enough to see who was prepared to commit 100% to the team and who wasn't. Reading between the lines from what we have heard recently (ie Walsh asking Dangerfield whether he was prepared to commit 100% into this year etc) it seems like Walsh suspected that Dangerfield wasn't going to stay.

Hey guys

What are your thoughts on what fair value is for Dangerfield? Personally, I think no matter what compensation is given by Geelong, you're going to lose out (get screwed).

Dangerfield is worth at minimum IMO - A top ten pick AND a gun young player.

Picks are so overrated by the industry it's laughable - look at all the top ten picks over the past decade and Dangerfield is comfortably a better player than 90% of them.

Also - I can't stand that prick Connors - the sooner the AFL deregister that twat, the better off the system will be.

You're spot on about draft picks - they're over rated to the point of stupidity.

I want;

#9
Cockatoo
Second round pick (next year or this, don't care).

I think that is still undervalued, but not horrifically so.

Correct.

I do expect our board to stay within the rules we operate to however. If you know someone is 'trolling' by being polite here but stirring things up on their own board about it - report here and link in the other posts. It will be handled.

Teeing off will only see you infracted yourself.

Dangerfield, in general, would be a great choice as captain IMO. Leads by example, has a good grasp on the game, is articulate and says all the right things in the media.

But like I've said before, what he says in public and what he actually believes can sometimes differ greatly.

All the stuff about PD being a bad leader etc ... I'd want to hear that from someone in the team before I took any real notice, but he definitely doesn't appear from the outside to be comfortable leading. Off-field yes - on-field not so much.

I think it is another example of PD on-field being very different from his public persona - also the way he plays footy is very different to his highlight reel IMO.

I'll be very interested to see how the Geelong faithful review him after the shiny newness wears off.

And don't read this as knocking him down coz he is leaving, I have always admired the positives PD brings, but he is not an all-round player at all. If I was to compare him to say a Pendelbury - I don't think there would be many characteristics that I didn't admire more in the Pies captain. Pendles is clean and hard and skilled - he just won his 4th B&F for a reason, he epitomises team-first. That is the way I like my footballers. Sloane is great example of a 100% team player ... Tex / Betts / Talia fit that mould too.

Maybe PD needs a new surrounding to blossom fully? Now there's a scary proposition !!
Just a quick question here. and Maybe they left it out, but at the club B&F they mentioned the players that went above and beyond off field in their community work. Tex won the award. Of all the names listed as doing above and beyond for others, PD wasn't mentioned. Anyone else notice that?

Too busy packing his bags.

If the reported deal is true, there will be a meltdown on this board and in general and rightly so. ******* joke as based on the deals, Treloar and McCarthy if he gets traded are worth more than Dangerfield. Terrible!
Yeah, clubs have a lot more leverage with players like the 2 mentioned though. McCarthy is still contracted, if that deal fails he either stays and GWS or quits football.

So why isn't this subject to the "ken wood" fairness test then? If its not, then pick 9 for "average player" should pass too!
