Don't think he'll come back to Vic politics. If Labor gets smashed in the 2025 federal election, expect Labor representatives make approaches to Daniel Andrews to see if he would make a tilt at a federal seat in Victoria, with an eye to having Andrews replace Anthony Albanese as the new Labor leader.
Albo (whilst disappointing in a few areas) is far superior to Scummo and Dutton and will romp it in. Parachuting Andrews into a leadership position federally would actually help the libs alot as he isn't well thought of outside Melbourne (and his popularity in Melbourne is a reflection of having a worse than useless opposition) and since the last election, his questionable conduct, relationships and decision making had become more obvious

again the point of the EV tax was to be similar to the fuel excise and people driving EVs aren't poor

the point is to cover the costs of using the roads

as long as there is a fuel excise and no equivalent for EV then people who can afford an EV are putting less money into road maintenance than those that can't

making rego more expensive is also not going to help people with less money

you want the outer suburbs issue fixed advocate for fixing PT not making it cheaper to drive your own car
There was a call years ago to make cyclists pay bike rego. Never happened. Yet more bike paths are being constructed every year.
They blocked off two car lanes in LaTrobe St for bicycle lanes and they took away car parking.

The experience of cities across the globe is that more and better bicycle infrastructure leads to more bike riding which is better for the population's health and the local environment in terms of noise and air pollution. It also means that people who NEED to use cars get where they are going just as quickly or quicker.

I can't see any good arguments against this.

Lets pretend it happens. Do you think cyclists that pay car rego should be exempt from paying bike rego?

Another stuff up
Dozens of homeowners who live above the $10.8bn West Gate Tunnel have won a secret multimillion-dollar compensation payoutbecause their land titles extend to the centre of the earth.
The Herald Sun can reveal that 40 Yarraville residents have hit the jackpot – landing what is believed to be an average of about $100,000 each – with the state government quietly settling out of court earlier this year.

Hopefully that's contested in a higher court as that is a ludicrous precedent that will be to everyone's detriment if any new tunnels need to compensate the properties above.

Most modern property titles only go to 15m underground, but older titles – including those in Yarraville – detail that ownership of land extends to the centre of the earth.

Last year Adrian McMillan, an associate at Slater and Gordon, said “residents have had something that they own taken by the government, and it’s their right to be compensated for that”.

Wont be contested , it was an agreement by both parties

so you would have forgone it if you were an owner. Very noble!

My cousins bought a property well under market value in the 80s as the land behind it was zoned for a freeway. In the end the Eastlink tunnels were built underneath instead and their property is worth millions!

So don’t do anything? These social warriors are not societies friends. Will simply extend tolling on the project to cover it

Those winning the case against per km charge for EV to state govt are enabling more tolling as a revenue raiser, and an unfair one at that

Seems like a pretty cheap deal. Do the title owners still retain ownership to the centre of the earth? Or has that be transferred to the government. Obviously the tunnel now would prevent access to anything below it. Also how does this title work given the radius of the earth gets smaller as it approached the core is there a lot of math involved?

You also used to own the air above your property up to space. Stops people building out over the top of your house.

What are the general air rights now?

I know that in some jurisdictions people now sell the air rights to neighbouring developers either for overhangs and/or to keep another development from blocking views etc.

I think nowadays it is whatever is practical so that planes can fly over without being sued for trespass, but neighbours cannot build out over your property.
