I'm hearing whispers that Carlton are still a very strong chance to secure Bradshaw in the pre season draft..

Apparently he is dissapointed in his treatment by Brisbane and the fact that opportunities might be limited with a Fevola / Brown forward line. He has not yet put pen to paper with the Lions and I hear that he is considering Carlton's 2 year offer...

I have never posted a rumour or any of the sort on this forum before and this may be all wishful thinking however I heard Andy Maher and Tim Watson this morning discuss the very same whisper that I had previously heard.

I think this would be sh1t hot. If we could somehow get him in the psd that would be a fantastic result for us :thumbsu::):D
 
Bradshaw would be a good get for Carlton. He probably could slip through to us in the PSD as most of the other bottom sides wouldn't have him based on his age. It would certainly be good for Henderson's development to have an A grade forward to work alongside. Get it done CFC.

To be honest i can't see Bradshaw leaving the Lions, but if he did then we would be in a decent position to nab him i'd say. Rebuilding teams such as Melbourne, North etc wouldn't touch him and with the likely cap space from Fev going we could pay above par for him to get to us in the Preseason Draft for a year or 2. As i said not likely, but would be very nice if it could happen.
 
If the Hawks passed on him they should shoot Pelchen.......well shoot him anyway, but the whole recruiting department should be sacked.

Would be a great fit for a couple of years at CHB/FB IMO.

So nice thought but highly unlikely.
 
He would be handy for 2 yrs but I'm sick of listening to Andy Maher, he talks bullshit when he has his Blues hat on, he made up some stupid rumour that we were discussing Pavlich's future on Friday arvo and then when Rats was interevied a cpl of hours later they asked if that was the case and he replied 'no we didn't speak about it at all'

Was agitating Friday that he had already retired according to "sources from other AFL clubs".......probably yanking Andy's chain and having a good laugh right now.

Raised it again this AM.

Given that the Lions are clearly trying to have a tilt at a flag in the next 2-3 years the way they have traded, why would he retire?

He may well play backline more, but with Brown able to play up the ground, Fev and Bradshaw could share the F50.

Even if he was desperate to come back to Vic (didn't he also decide "no" to the Fev trade after coming down?) and went into the PSD the Hawks would need to be alseep not to take him before us and play him down back.

We could do something to price them out maybe.......but would we really want to do that with an injury prone 31 y.o.?

I would love to see it.......but I just can't.

If Carlton offer him let’s say a 3 year $1.5 million deal (Which they can afford if Brisbane have taken all of Fevs pay) what other clubs would want him at age 30 and can pay him those dollars.

The only clubs I see who would fit for him and them are

- Carlton
- Collingwood
- West Coast (too old but maybe)
- Freo (Too old but maybe)
- Swans (For sure but he wants to move back to Melbourne)
- Saints (Can’t afford him)
- Geelong (Can’t afford him)
- Hawks (No)
- Adelaide (No)
- Port (no)
- North (Maybe but rebuilding)
- Dees (Young list so No)
- Bulldogs (No)
- Richmond (No)

Would be fantastic if it eventuated but I just can't see it happening.

I can understand why he may have an interest in leaving the Lions, with Fevola and Brown the 2 main targets it would be hard to see where he can fit in that forward line, but moving him into defense where he has showed he can be very valuable may be an option for them.

Having said that, if he was to leave the Lions, I can't see how he would last to our pick in the PSD. As BB said above, the Hawks would be mad not to take him and he'd be generating a fair bit of interest from other clubs who have a pick before us as well. There is the issue of pricing himself out of the range of some other teams but I just can't see it happening.
 
Bradshaw was happy about coming here.

It wouldn't be unthinkable for him to contemplate his future at the Lions. Would take him in a heart beat if he was there. Would we be more inclined to take him in the National Draft, if that was the case?
 
Doesn't Bradshaw have a year to run on a contract? If so he can't nominate for the pre-season draft, he can only be traded with his consent. Since trade week has finished i cant see how we can get him.

Are people saying that he will retire and then nominate for psd? Like mal micheal? or am i wrong and Bradshaw is currently uncontracted?

If we were to get him somehow, i would only sign him on a year to year deal.

I hate to put a dampener on things Big Red but i believe Bradshaw signed a 2 year contract with the Lions on Friday which rules out him entering the PSD.

Apart from the fact that i doubt Bradshaw is going anywhere, we didnt take all of Fev's pay. Also Hawks would jump on Braddles in a heartbeat.

Doubt it.

Hawthorn have more tall forwards than you can poke a stick at.

I reckon Williams was traded out to make way for Dowler's progress as a mobile lead up forward. The Hawks might have a three tall forwardline like Brisbane next year. Dowler would be more dangerous than Anthony with Roughead and Franklin getting all the attention.

Gibson, Gilham and Schoenmakers will play back.

What;s your source, not reported anywhere

My unerstanding is they have salary cap issues with Fev on board...

Kernahan would not say what portion of this figure would... be paid by Carlton, but added that it was ''a substantial amount of money''.

Sounds like we'll be about right salary cap wise.

His kids wouldn't want to be naughty or they'll end up on the street

Approx 700K is what Carlton are picking up ? Where does the rest of Fev;s salary come from? Huge salary cap pressure on the Lions.

We will be massively cashed up now that Fev is traded, any uncontracted players will be targeted this year and next...in more ways than one this is starting to look more of a win for the Blues.

I think he said Fevolas contract was a substantial amount... He didnt say we are paying a substantial amount.. I think our second rounder was compensation for Brisbane to take on most of it... Kernahan said its confidential.. Brisbane wouldnt want it getting out, im sure of that..

As far as Hawthorn, they would be nearly bursting at the seems I would think with cap pressure.. Wouldnt think they'd be any chance of taking Bradshaw.. We would be in the box seat..We have cash to spend..

Bradshaw has been offered a 2 year deal, but i am to beleive he hasn't signed it yet..
 
i thought Bradshaw had signed a new deal, though i could be wrong as i read it in the heraldsun, half of which is bullshit.

would be stoked to pick up Bradshaw through the draft which would give us the oppurtunity to develop Henderson as a CHF.

what do you think the chances of this actually happening are, how much would he cost and how long does he have left in his body????
