There are ex players that get it right most of the time. Hodge and Bartel would be examples. Rowe is just a shit tier football personality.
They are an exception, Buckley too.

King for example is made out as some guru, yet with all the info he has, he still can come out with shit opinions.

I don't think anyone gives Rowe any credit as a football analyst, do they? He's the wacky radio guy, not a serious voice on anything.
I agree with this assessment but people post his opinions on here and it's not always like "lol look at this clown". People look to Rowe as one of the people who can put real heat on the club and they wouldn't be doing that if they thought he was footy's version of Kyle Sandilands.

I remember a lot were concerned about his reaction on draft night to being drafted here. Obviously his extension puts that to bed a bit but his post game interview today pretty much shows you that's just how the big dog rolls.

Played an absolute blinder, arguably best on, kicked a few snags, threw down the gauntlet to other rising star nominees, but judging by his interview you'd think he was subbed on with 6 minutes to go. Just a very subdued guy.

26 disposals (9 contested), 495 metres gained, 7 inside 50’s, 2 goals, 3 goal assists and 11 score involvements.

BOG
Some more stats to flesh out what was a monster all-rounder performance.
  • 8 intercepts - 2nd highest on ground
  • 5 tackles - equal 2nd for us
  • 3 clearances
  • 80% DE despite taking aggressive forward options
Blown away...

Hird just confirmed he doesn’t watch us, he’s playing on the wing, why talk about him being the 4th tall forward?

At least Bartel went straight into talking about being the tall wingman
This annoys the **** out of me. I know more about players than these 'experts' and I watch about 1.2 games a week.

It's literally their job to watch footy and then talk about it.

Gutsy bet considering he had literally never cracked 20 possessions in his career before!

As others have already quipped, he probably cost himself some serious cash by extending prior to this game.

After what has felt like a whole season of him playing on the "other wing", we seemed determined to work the ball through Curtin today, and it paid dividends. He just doesn't waste disposals, and his marking is a huge weapon.

He has single-handedly ended Sholl's career, too.

Not only Sholl's, you wouldn't be feeling too crash hot about your chances of having a career at Adelaide if you were Dowling or Nankervis at this point.

some of those score involvements were just …. Chefs kiss.

Lacing out Max with a 45m pass after waltzing around a defender. Bursting through the guts evading tacklers then having a bounce and putting a 55m pass on TTs head.

I can’t recall us ever having this sort of talent. As others have said - a complete unicorn. Well, perhaps not a unicorn - I’ve seen Bont do this stuff too.

Pretty sure Hird's comment was "could" play as a 4th tall .. not that he was playing as the 4th tall
I thought it sounded like he was thinking he was playing forward.

Yep and why would he even think he could be the 4th tall when he played that during the year and it didn’t work, he’s building nicely over the last month on the wing and was just BOG on the wing.

Goes along with his comment Nicks should be coach of the year

Still need depth though don't you ??

You cant just have 25 players on your list, despite that being the senior coaches preference

However, it's damn hard to make a career out of being depth - especially if you're not a KP or Ruck.

Want a career, you need to hold a best 22 slot. Curtin absolutely smashing it on the wing makes it a whole lot harder for the rest of our outside mids.

Nank will be fine considering his best position thus far is still half-back and we fielded Laird and Smith yesterday.

That's an indication that Nank is not fine. If he's as good as you're indicating, he would be ahead of Laird/Smith seeing he's now in his 3rd year on the list. Remember, we don't play senior players for experience, we play them because they're seen as the best we have, and a seriously talented kid goes past them quickly.

Really at this point, Nank is in a serious amount of strife, list wise, as is anyone who is 3+ years in and do not hold a best 22 slot.

Curtin isnt keeping them out of the team, Murphy and Smith are

Not really... we played mm up forward. Showed he could pay there. Both these guys could rotate hb and wing. They could easily replace Smith and Murphy

Yep, let him settle this year on a wing and then explore his readiness as a centre square mid in the offseason. Its working like a charm him off a wing and he gets up and down the ground with ease now..it really could not be looking more promising for him
If we were incredibly reckless, we could have given him a few cbas in q4, instead of murph
