Without seeing closely the general appearance of the tape would be consistent either way offering some support to the patela (although highly debatable how effective it is)

May be a good sign that he does have some looseness there and it’s possible it’s popped out with minimal damage

(That’s a positive until it gets loose enough to pop out too easily and still needs surgery)

Based off of last year’s form, we can’t afford to be missing anyone with the initials JD, IR, RT or JR

For future development though, Dan getting injured is worst case scenario. Thankfully not an ACL or even a PCL like Thilthorpe, at least

Without knowing much about anything myself, I have noticed a trend of injuries in 2nd and 3rd year players where, having rapidly put on the extra 15kg required, this then places their ligaments under much greater strain than they've been used to in their relatively short athletic life (let's say an AFL player reaches their final height somewhere between 16 and 19years old).

Does the rest of their musculoskeletal system need time to strengthen and accommodate the bulk? Do they really need to become any bigger than they already are at this stage?

No no, we prefer listing Dan as six weeks on the injury list every week until August and then get tetchy when he is brought up in press conferences

Fair question
I am no medic but when I had to personally have a bunch of scanning and reports the times were quite stretched out
All had to be read and the specialist to decide a way fwd.

I’m sure a sports persons pathway would be escalated
Then Dan would have to decide on suggested path.
AFC then have to prepare media statements ( probably longer than the medical process )

Arrgh we have to be patient I guess

There's a point where if someone is likely to have ongoing issues with it then you're better off getting the surgery unfortunately
