He would have been a great key forward at most of the clubs with PSD picks before us, actually. If you're saying the Eagles would rather McKinley than Anthony, or Essendon would rather Neagle/Gumbleton...

The Eagles have Kennedy, Brown, LeCras and they seem to like Wilson, so their forward line isn't of major interest to them...hence McKinley not getting a game and now obviously being unloaded for peanuts. No interest there.

Although I would much rather Gumby than Anthony, Neagle obviously is junk, so they may have had a use for JA. Fact is though, JA isn't enough of a commodity to make it worth the hassle of drafting him against his wishes.

The PSD is great because the clubs respect each other enough not to poach players who have made up their mind. As soon as they stop respecting that, the player's association will fast track free agency and trade week will be a laugh. Brisbane will never be able to find 22 players willing to take the field for them.

I don't think it has anything to do with respect at all, more like if a fringe/old player has their heart set on playing somewhere why bother dealing with that headache? e.g. You reckon if Hilly said "I want to play for Carlton" and went to the PSD the other clubs with earlier picks would not pick him up? Nick Stevens tried that one.

As was said, Free Agency is happening in 2012, but as it stands Clark and/or Rich wouldn't qualify for it anyway.

Clark is in a different league to Griffin.

When Clark is fit he is a walk up start in any team.

It's the off season so I can out on a limb but I would think Clark is the difference between 4th and 1st he's that good.

Yes it is a tad early to be throwing around possible trades but hey, the season hesn't started so we are bored.

What is interesting is that this season Rich, Clark and Lewis Jetta come out of contract. All WA boys who could well and truely head back West.

Obvious that Freo nor the Eagles would be likely to get two of these and all three is just plain crazy (but Vossy could be a big player here so anythings possible:D)

So if you could only get one who would it be?

I'd suggest that Clark is the most likely for Freo. He has already nominated Freo and the Eagles ruck depth is pretty well covered and Darling + Wilson are fighting for FF with Lycett another option. Freo does have a group of aging KP players and no real stand out FF, Clark would walk straight into your side at FF and then provide Sandilands with a rest.

The Eagles really need outside pace like Jetta but I can't see them passing up Rich if they can get a deal done.

Both trades would cost us first rounders plus something else.

Watch Clark go to GWS at the end of this season. Has cooled on Freo and is considering options.

I am a fan of Clark and he would be a huge asset, but our landscape has changed with the recruitment of Griffin and Anthony, and also with the training form of Zac. If any of those three establish a firm foothold on our best 22 it would make recruiting Clark a bit of a luxury considering what the likely asking price would be, and other options for where the club may look to trade could be more attractive. And to be honest I would be disappointed if one of those three isn't likely to become a regular best 22 player by next season. Having a playing list with 4-5 players who are legitimate 2nd ruckmen would be a bit silly.
