Can't see us wanting much for him as I don't think he's rated much by our club.

Interesting to see that the clubs apparently chasing him have Sydney links though (lots of ex-Sydney players/coaches as assistants at the Roos, Carlton having an ex-Sydney recruiter over there and GWS having seen him play lots in the NEAFL).

I think he just go pre season draft if Sydney want something.

And this is why drafting 18 yr old project rucks is becoming out of vogue.

It takes years to get to AFL standard and if there is someone older entrenched in the side a young ruck looks elsewhere for a list that will play him.

Its a tough balancing act.

Will be interesting if the Crows chase Grundy now that O'Brien has stepped out of the shadows due to injury to Jacobs.

It's almost a waste of time really. Draft a bloke at 18, let them develop for 3 seasons and by the time they're ready another club pinches them and they simply say he hasn't played any games therefore we only have to give up a 3rd or 4th rounder.

Wasn't this guy a mature age pick from the state leagues anyway? Swans took a ruck in the mid season draft instead of looking to playing him so he is not worth anything.

Well you got the choice to pick them up later eg 23-24 years old from state league.

Drafted as a 19/20 year old. Not exactly mature as a ruck. Still a baby really.
Was 21 from memory. So does count as a mature-aged recruit, but was still picked for what he could become rather than what he was.

He wet down injured around the time of the MSD and hasn't played since.

I'd throw something at him. Not sure what the Swans would want though

No he wasn't. He missed selection in his draft year (2013) due to injury.
He was picked up as a 21yo in 2016 after good WAFL form, so the mature aged rookie recruit scenario does apply here, albeit that 21 is still not a mature ruckman he did have some runs on the board as a state league player.

He was injured so the swans had to go to the mid season draft to find a replacement. Two years ago he was tearing it up in the NEAFL as a forward/ruck and came second in the league MVP.
This year he didn't seem that interested so maybe a change of scenery will do him good.

Hawthorn should give him a go. Ceglar may need to leave if they land Coniglio which means outside of McEvoy, they are incredibly thin in the ruck department.

Think it is a decent fit. Carlton need someone after Kreuzer so him or TDK will hopefully be it.
they do, Carltons list management is not good if there only offering Phillips 1 year when he probably has 3 left in him or maybe 2 at best

Darcy Cameron didn't have anything close to the athleticism for AFL, even as a ruck, when he was younger.

I didn't think he did when he was drafted to Sydney either years down the road.
afaik he did Train at Essendon Years ago before he got Drafted. he wasnt that good then but now i do believe he has gotten much better ruck an forward craft 740479
