The shemozzle was confusion over us being liable for every year of his contract(sounded pretty confused) versus a shorter portion of his deal. Later on, after the trade deadline when the clubs were still working out who was paying what, one of the concessions the Bulldogs gave us was to front load some of our obligations.I thought it was reported that we requested that but it was part of the post trade shamozzle without it being clear what went down in the end?
It was always a strange concept - Pies in fire sale mode due to a salary cap crisis, but wanting to front end payouts that would go into the salary cap?
To me it makes sense - just from a list management, not to mention peace of mind, standpoint, you'd want to get an opposition player's future payments off your books asap. Do that by backloading current players!
