Looking at the way Collingwood delivered him the ball last year, surely he's not been given enough opportunity as yet?

This blog compares his three year stats to those of Joe Daniher, and after year five, Joe is a top five forward in the comp.

So yeah, forward or back? I'd keep him up forward.

Was never a great forward as a junior. Many raised this when he was drafted but were shot down by Collingwood supporters. Few years later he's a failed forward forced down back as predicted.

Is delivery really a valid excuse for Darcy?

The last time i looked the Pies had a very good and above average Mid field who are no chump users of the ball and/or butchers of the pill.

I think Darcy is struggling to get separation from his opponent a lot and teams have realized this and know how to play him while dropping players in front him to prevent the leading into open space and Darcy is not really a burner by foot.

He needs another decent forward target next to him that is of a similar style to create a match up headache and it is still way to early to completely write the guy off and he has a heap of natural talent to work with so i am keeping him forward.

Still a baby, i'd give him every opportunity to succeed as a forward before sending him back, pretty tough gig being the no1 forward at his age with limited support.

I have no doubt he'll become a very good player, just not sure whether it'll be forward/back or as a ruckman or a combination of those 3.

fwd definitely. Will be a gun but he needs help though from a mature KPF to take the heat off him. It will never happen but I could see him flourishing at richmond the way we play, as a rangy mobile 2nd fwd - would actually be a perfect fit.

Have you even looked? Pendles aside (and Wells in the handful of games he played for us), our midfield ball use has been awful. We've been a good contested ball side, but our ball movement going into the forward line has been a concern for a couple of years under Buckley. Far too slow, far too much switching and the forward line is quite often left flat on their feet as a result. Suspect this has been a focus area over summer, but has definitely been a huge weakness for a while now.

On topic, I am OK with Darcy spending time down back, personally I would have tried him there a bit more until now. Long term I see him as a forward and also really like him as a second ruck. He needs to be more aggressive as a player, he is super athletic & but rarely do you see him using his size and strength to much of an advantage. I hope that by spending time on some of the opposition's best forwards he can learn quite a bit about how to do this.

To this point we've only really seen glimpses of what he can be. He has only just turned 22 and is entering his 4th year in the league, so he has plenty of time. Spending a portion of 2018 down back will hopefully accelerate his development a bit, but I'm confident he'll look good back at CHF in 2019 next to Tom Lynch. ;)

Hasn't had a decent run at it yet.Would be nice if he occasionally got someone to kick it to the right side for him instead of always to the side his opponent is standing. Was ludicrous at times last year

The midfield is above average in winning the ball but the disposal is awful. Two of our key three key ball winning midfielders (Treloar and Adams) are complete butchers.

At times last season the gamelan also hasn't helped with the side lacking confidence to play on quickly and dibble dabbing with short kicks across half back. The reason Old Man Moore suggested Young Moore might be better in defence in the first place was because Buckley was persistent with a 5 forwards v 7 defenders structure. It's very difficult for a young and underdeveloped forward to do well in those conditions imo.

Moving Moore to defense after three years teaching him to play as a forward and given our deficiency in the area of tall forwards is about the dumbest thing Buckley has done to date. The backline performed well last season so I don't get why he'd want to tinker with that and I really don't get why he'd be moving talent out of the forward line which everyone agrees is lacking in talent.

For mine, moving Moore to defence is a concession from Buckley that he can't build a gameplan that can outscore other teams. Ross Lyon mk2 and given the time he's had at the club and the support the board has shown in extending his contract we should be getting a little more imagination,

Overall our side has the worst kicking skills i've seen in my 40 odd years of watching football, my face has permanent palm marks on it, kicking skills IMO are the soul reason we haven't played finals the last few years, the amount of closish games we've lost while giving up 7+ goals through unforced turnovers blows my mind.

If i were our coach i'd tell them to kick it to the opposition, they'd end up ****ing it up and hitting one of our players instead, i kid you not that's how bad our kicking has been.
