Lol.

More likely the club play Reid with a bunch of mids/smalls, or send White back.
Agree, White a more likely option than Moore and if we can't talk Goldsack &/or Marsh into staying than I wouldn't be surprised to see taller mids Wills & Crisp rotating through the backline - assuming of course that Oxley doesn't bulk up eg from listed 84kg to all of 86kg or something :p
(I see Wills & Crisp as options worth exploring as if Shazza is fit we need him free to be more creative, as demonstrated by the difference in his game before and after Marsh injury in THAT vfl final.)
Undersized backs seems to fit Bucks likening us to Dogs in style.

Huge year for Darcy becoming the number 1 key forward.

Could flourish with more responsibility or struggle with the number 1 defender, our KPP stocks are extremely thin so we really need a big year from him.

Watching him and Cox either sink or swim will be an interesting story in 2017

He was the number one man most of last year

More responsibility? He was our number 1 key forward this year already. Or did you think opposition clubs were putting more work in to White?

Cloke still played 13 games this year, which is more support than he'll get in 2017.
So you're saying he wasn't our number 1 forward because a desperately out of form Travis Cloke played 13 games, 9 of which were with Moore.

Ok.

Moore is very much a leading forward so whoever the opposition play on him will need to be mobile. I expect Cox to stay deep forward so he will be more likely to get the monster defender. If our delivery into forward 50 improves I think Moore will get enough shots on goal to have a good season.

Come on Apex, I'd be absolutely shocked if clubs didn't go in planning for Cloke a whole lot more than planning for Moore. Cloke didn't just play terribly this season, he was made to play badly by opposition defences and Buckley tried to minimise that damage by incorporating more of a focus on Moore and Cox.

Without a doubt, it's going to be a lot harder for Moore next year not having Cloke taking some of the attention.

What are peoples thoughts on Darcy playing a percentage of ruck time next year? I watched Boyd in the Grand Final and couldnt help but think how valuable Moore could be floating around the ground taking big marks. I know hes still under developed physically but the thought of Darcy spending about 70% forward 30% ruck would have opposition in a panic i think. Helps him stay involved in the game also when things are tough up forward and he's getting too much attention.

Doesn't need to be in the ruck to take big marks around the ground. Would prefer to leave ruck relief to others and optimise Moore fitness. Playing a physically underdeveloped player in the ruck is an unnecessary risk (one we already took with Moore too much last year IMO)

edit: pleasing to note Darcy was 12th for average contested marks per game in 2016

Cloke 15th, Cox 41st, Grundy not in top 100. Would be great if all 3 still on our list can improve this stat in 2017 to give us more outlets from defence and more set shots on goal.

I would rather Darcy just be stay at home forward - 100%... really don't want him rucking, and don't think it will add to our game. Let him build consistency as a forward.

The question becomes how we line up, and will Brodie's tank continue improving that he can be a 90-95% gametime ruckman?
If we have Cox/White as our 2nd KPF, then they would clearly be 2nd ruck.

But there is also the option of going with a mobile fwd line with Mayne as a pseudo-KPF alongside Moore and 4 smalls/meds. If we do that then we have to see how close to 100% of gametime Brodie can ruck, and who do we have that can chip in that 5-10% that might be needed - could be any of Moore, Keefe, Goldsack, Howe (my dark horse) to just do that extra chipping in.

What I'm saying is Moore will have less support this year in the Power Forward category and opponents are going to put increasingly more effort specifically into him.

I think early in his career he caught some opponents off guard with his freak athleticism, he doesn't have the same element of surprise now with the spotlight firmly on him.

Can ya post it geezer?
Copy the link in to google and open the result in a private window. Against copyright rules to copy a whole article I think, doubt AD being a spec mod would want to do that.

When people were calling for him to be dropped this year after a couple of lean weeks, I thought he's not the type to benefit greatly from a spell in the VFL. Unlike others, he's not weak between the ears and needs to build confidence. Next few weeks we saw the WCE game and other strong performances. For him, IMO, it's more about getting up to speed and strength at AFL.

I'm not saying he'll be like Wayne Carey, but he oozes the leadership and confidence in himself to be a leader in the same way Carey did at a young age. Note I said Carey at a young age and nothing in reference to playing ability.

IMO, he'll be our next captain. He'll leapfrog Tay Adams, when Pendles eventually gives it away. Interesting Moore went to the US with Bucks, after Bucks invited him, to check out some sporting organisations over there in the off season.
