Dan Gorringe will not be available when pick 10 comes around, suggesting Gold Coast will pick him up at pick 3.

The GC have quite a Few Good Ruck Prospects so I am not 100% sure they will go that way

I would prefer the Crows to take Jared Polec or Brodie Smith instead of Mitch Hallahan.
Know that I know a little more about Mitch I'd be okay with Adelaide drafting him.

Good to see Watson is taken by Gold Coast. Would think with his mature body he will be a shoe in as one of their drafted talls.

Descriptions? :D

Gaff at the moment is the consensus pick 4. Real class act. Hard worker and won't leave any stone unturned. True professional in the way he goes about his footy and he will become a very good player because of it. Rate him ahead of Atley regardless of which club finishes down bottom.

Gorringe I have in 5 because his athleticism and ability are both very rare. Will become a quality tap ruckman. Very talented kid who could add allot to any team. Can also go forward and have a real impact. I wouldn't worry about GC having too many rucks, they will look to have quality in all positions, and considering a quality ruck is best available at 5, they should take him.

Lycett I have top 10. Another quality ruckman who should go allot higher than 20. His mobility for his height is pretty rare and he has very strong hands.

Smith would have to be pretty stiff not to get selected 1st round on everything he has shown. Have him just inside my top 10.

As for those who are a bit high:
Jacobs should be selected in the teens. Top 10 is unlikely at this early stage. I think where you are getting this from is his one super game during the champs where he accumulated a whole heap of the ball.

Caddy + Parker. Both quality mids but again drop them down another 10 places or so. They both project as solid pros, but there are players with more talent available.

And lastly Darling although comming into the season he had all the hype surrounding him as a possible top 3/4 pick. Has really shown little development this season and has largely been a disappointment. Probably doesn't have the height to be a KPF long term which could see him drop down the rankings somewhat.

My top 10 (I'd lock in probably the top 8 to be very close to this)
1. Swallow
2. Bennell
3. Day
4. Gaff
5. Gorringe
6. Atley
7. Watson
8. Lycett
9. Smith
10. Darling

I agree with a lot of what you said and particularly that in bold, I am starting to realise that history is against these guys going early in light of more athletic prospects.

They will be in the Ones after the Season comes. This is more a Rough One where I think players will go and It will most likely change after the season and Trade Week and Draft Combine

Where would you have Wallis going if he wasn't a F/S?
Depending on team's individual preferences, 6-14. The top 3 are consensus, he would be behind Gaff as a midfielder as well. I don't think the Gold Coast would remotely consider picking him at 5, so as I said 6-14. KPPs like Gorringe, Lycett and Darling can't be compared with him for obvious reasons, so it would come down to individual preferences. He would be in the mix with Atley, Smith, Watson etc and I think mid 1st round is the best estimate.

If Eagles get pick 4 I hope they take Gaff.He seems a safer bet than Atley.
Is Atley quick and what is his disposal like?

The difference between the midfielders post Swallow is pretty small, Atley is quick and his kicking is solid, though i have some questions regarding his action.

Ive got no problems with taking Gaff, a good work rate and crisp disposal are always needed.

TradeDraft you are one of my favourite posters because I have loved junior footy and draft time over the past few years.

I know its early but I would love to hear more description and reasoning behind your players/picks mate :thumbsu:

I really think Gaff would compliment the young midfielders we have drafted over the past 3 years and add some real class outside. He's the guy you want to have the ball in his hands when you spread.

He's a big accumulator who reads the play really well, makes good decisions, has a big tank and nice foot skills and could really prove to be the link up player we need. If that ain't enough he can get his own ball too.

I have this nagging feeling we are going to draft Darling though...

Would not Surprise me at All if the Eagles Draft him as he would be best Avaliable from WA

At the start of the year if our recruiters were told they could pick up Darling they would have creamed their pants, since the carnival he has certainly lost some shine so will be interesting to hear what is coming out of our camp closer to the draft.

If Gaff is overlooked at 4 expect Clayton and co to snap him up at 5 knowing Darling will probably be there at 7

Great effort Trade Draft.

Can you tell me what happens to the picks after 25 if the teams finish the way you predict in your mock draft.

For instance would West Coast - who will finish last - get pick 26, then Brisbane 27 and so on.

Or will Gold Coast get more priorities after the first 25.

Would appreciate an answer to this question or a referall to the thread that outlines the full draft details for 2010. Cheers

Simple answer is that after the 1st round the draft takes place in regular order, with the Gold Coast effectively finishing 17th. So they pick 1st in each round, then 16th, and so on. For all the other details you can see http://www.afl.com.au/News/NEWSARTICLE/tabid/208/Default.aspx?newsId=67076

Also note that if West Coast don't win another game, they will likely get a priority pick at the start of the 2nd round. Whether this happens before or after the GC's pick is an interesting question that I can't answer
