Just heard on SEN that Davey is reported for head over ball contact. They said on the radio it looked like both players slipped and therefore an accident. anyone see it? do you think he will go? :thumbsd:
 
He's got nothing to worry about.

Crows player was lucky he didnt get done for holding the ball.

The Adelaide tossers on 5AA reckons he will never go. They are so Adelaide biased that if they think he won't go then you wouldn't think there is much in it.

Then again.......how would you know these days.
 
Nothing to worry about. You shouldn't be reported for something you didn't have any intention to do. In fairness, the Crows player should be reported for not being able to stay on his feet and headbutting Davey's knee.
 
looked like a terrible report, I you never know what the tribunal will do.

Surely Basset has to front as well? Much worse IMO.
 
Bass should/will probably get a couple.

Davey has no problems, just a high tackle.

Lets get on with it. Leave the handbags at home AFL.

Having watched parts of most games this week, the game today was above standard.

You only need to watch the first quarter of the Freo Port game to see where umpiring interrupted the play every two minutes.

The report was soft, but any head contact these days will get done. It should be thrown out. Free kick nothing more.
 
This is the problem. By trying to protect the head so much the AFL are actually giving players an incentive to duck into tacklets like Mattner did (I know he slipped, but after he did he also ducked the head) because it's a guaranteed free kick. If anything it's going to increase the chance of a bloke suffering a serious injury.

Should have been holding the ball.
 
Mattner ducked his head as Davey slipped. Will get off with a warning. As for Bassett though....

The umpiring was disgraceful at times. McPhee was harshly done by in the 2nd on no less than 3 occasions.

Agreed; should not be any concerns. Soft report.
But I think that this 'ducking' was a case of automatic reaction. If you see something coming straight at your head .. you automatically duck. This is different to players who have time to think about ducking, and then do, as a considered action to draw an infringement and a free.
No problem for Davey, throw it out.
 
When he went into the book i was worried it might disrupt his game a bit. Thinking twice before going in to tackle etc but he kept on keeping on. Thought our offensive pressure was awesome today. Never seen us better when the ball was in an opponents hand in our forard half:thumbsu:
 
i was screaming at the tv "BALL!!!!!".

mattner was lucky to get a free kick let alone froggy getting reported. he has nothing to worry about. there was nothing he could've done to avoid contact.
