In all the doom and gloom of the last 16 hours I think the one major positive we can all agree on is Astbury.

Had a lot of doubters including myself but I thought he was phenomenal last night. Is taking contested intercept marks, making less mistakes with ball in hand and taking the best forward most weeks allowing Rance to float back.

Would surely be the most improved player of 2017?

I've been one of the few who has always maintained that if he can finally get some continuity in his football, Astbury would become a good player.

He's really progressing well, fulfilling his potential. If he can get another full season under his belt, the media will speak of he and Rance as a duo, rather than Sir Alex and that other bloke who sometimes goes OK...

Dave is becoming a very dependable player. Great foil for sir Alex. If only we had a equivalent up forward helping Jack...

Astbury and Grimes have taken their games to another level this year with (1) their courageous Attack on the ball and willingness to be physical (2) their excellent decision making and (3) their participation in attacking forays and rebounds. We no Longer have any old fashioned one dimensional backmen who stay down back and mark the gorilla. We have a unit of great markers and kickers who turn defence into Attack
