We sure are an even-handed lot in here. Had we lost today this would have been such an active thread. We win and it's crickets. Congrats David on the win and hopefully we continue to improve and you feel a bit less of the pressure that you have been recently. I guess we can't say that the players are refusing to play for you.

I keep going on about this, the rebuild was flawed and we took too many shortcuts, esp with too many GWS rejects.

I am in favour of going on another mini rebuild with another big list cull at season's end, even if Teague does not stay on as coach.

This list is nowhere near close to premiership winning material, and I defy anyone who is brutally honest to suggest otherwise.
Lmfao. What a post.

As much as he may be feeling the pressure to win he's got to maintain the faith in the young guys and keep doing what works. No matter how much he wants to revert to 17 ruckmen in the team.

I watched First Crack last night and Dicko made some interesting comments, saying he didn’t think the review was fair on Teague given they have tasked him with so much and he doesn’t have enough support around him because there’s no footy director on the board or a director of coaching to help. Isn’t Juddy the footy director? Where’s he and why isn’t he helping?

Is it as simple as appointing a Director of Coaching like we had with Neil Craig? Why wasn’t he replaced?

According to Dicko, Teague is doing so much that he’s exhausted and I must say, watching his presser yesterday, he could barely open his eyes.

In fairness to Teague, there’s definitely an element of youth to the team. Our primary on-ball/centre square brigade was Walsh, Dow, Cripps, Kennedy and Curnow. Led by a 15 game ruckman. All of that group (bar Curnow) have plenty of football ahead of them. Stocker was also in the team and will one day join that rotation.

There’s probably only Honey, O’Brien and Ramsay to come into contention out of the fit developing players/midfielders in the VFL.

The youth is there and contributing, they just lack consistency in performance. As they mature, time will tell if we’ve developed them properly (regardless, we’re still short a quality midfielder).

Again, a good scrappy win today but DT's first answer at the presser is confounding: "You can't expect to play like all the time" in response to our second quarter. Umm, actually you can if you set that as the standard. They may not always hit the mark, but you at least have a high standard based on what we've seen as their actual capability. It's statements like this that make supporters and pundits scratch their heads.

We've all seen that 10-15 minute bursts like the second quarter will win you games against mid and lower tiered teams but it won't against a professional side. This is the story of DT's coaching career. The team is obviously capable of some very dynamic and exciting football at times, so you set your expectations at that level and coaching standards accordingly. He has a quirky public speaking style, but I honestly don't know what the bloke is thinking at times.

We have had a year from hell. The reason this forum has exploded so many times is because WE genuinely believed we were expected to win so many more games than we have.

IMHO...the 'flawed' rebuild is not the issue...it was the flawed approach to appointing a coach after Bolton

Carlton win any two of Collingwood, Bulldogs, Swans, WC. GWS and we are just outside the 8...the narrative changes significantly. We would still be pissed off at the games we lost but as i said, we would be knocking on the door of the 8

...With all the injuries and with a poor coaching team, shithouse gameplan, selection lotto, conditional efforts, defensive dysfunctonality etc etc etc etc

We ballsed up the coaching/development team >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> we ballsed up the rebuild

I do think if we lose Teague's papers will be stamped. Really important game for our coach.
His papers are already stamped , no way he coaches in 2022
Biggest fear at Carlton is money and they will feel the backlash thru the crowds and membership if they extend Teague beyond 2022 and they won’t be letting him go into 2022 on his final contract

fu**, I'd hate to see him out of form [emoji1787]

2 ineffective touches and he was swamped !!
Lucky they didn’t give honey a game , we wouldn’t want that kid to enjoy a win and make him he think he belongs at this level

I hardly think there is going to be the massive backlash to Crowd and Membership numbers as you think.

Maybe a 1000 or so nuffie fans, but besides that is not reason enough to sack a coach.

A decision hasn't been made either way yet, so let's not bloody go half-cocked and jump to unsubstantiated conclusions

Do you really think the Bulldogs loss can be blamed at Teague ? Give me a spell.

We scraped over the line against a mid-table Crows outfit on our own home deck and you think that warrants an outpouring of "Hail Teague"?

That's not what I said. There's a long way between being at the ready with pitchforks to hailing someone. Some recognition maybe that things looked even a tiny bit better? I don't care how we won, the fact is that we showed a lot more desire and intent than we had the week before.
That is worth recognising.

It's about being balanced. I'm ready to criticise where it's deserved but also to say well done when it's called for.

Yeah, but that talk was present in the game day threads, was it not?

I'm not sure any of the substantial changes came about because Teague had some kind of genius coaching epiphany.

Levi suspended and Pitto injurred meant we had to innovate with our second ruck, and the improved effort from some bigger names could easily be down to the intense media scrutiny directed their way.

If Teague found some way to fire the players up, good on him, but I'd want to see some consistent application for a few weeks before daring to believe that he's suddenly turned a corner as senior coach. Until then this is just another potential Carlton false dawn, where we perform poorly for long enough to build up a heap of external pressure, pull our fingers out to release said pressure, then go back to coasting.

I'm coming across more negative than I actually feel. It's great to have a win. I just don't think it's fair to give the community a clip for not rushing to this thread in droves after a pretty pedestrian win.

Figuratively you're right but if he was speaking literally he was 100% correct!

You are kidding yourself if you think there won’t be a backlash if Teague is still coach

anyways no point arguing he won’t be coaching in 2022 and he has 8 weeks left
