We need to beat a top 4 or 6 team. We need to knock off a big scalp. We've caught The Handbaggers off guard a couple of time over the years. If Teague can pull off off a win this week against Geelong I reckon he will survive.;)

While I don't think, a single game, a couple of wins or even what happens in the back half of the year, is going to decide Teague's future...
Surely the decision makers will take into account a whole raft of information, to form and make the correct decision..

We looked to have improved visually, but have just fallen over the line against two bottom 8 interstate teams..
It's going to be interesting to see if we have actually improved against a genuine top 4 side with a few injuries...

Would be good to get the W..

The last two weeks were hugely important in that they allow us to go into a game against one of the best teams with at least some belief and confidence.

Winning against Adelaide was a non-negotiable as they are one of those teams we just have
no business losing to.

Fremantle isn't in that same category. In Fremantle, we were playing a team that would have moved into the 8 with a win. They are a more formidable opponent than Adelaide and had lots more to play
for. Fremantle is a team more around the same level that we are, it was good to be able to beat them

Regardless both these wins were important to us, I don't why people try downplaying our wins when we get them.

This week we're up against a hugely different opponent in Geelong. If we play at our absolute best maybe we can win the game but expectations need to be tempered a bit. Winning would be fantastic but the main thing is that we maintain effort and intensity and keep the pressure on them. Realistically we aren't anywhere near a top 4 team.

Winning or losing this game will make no difference to the coach's future at the club, at least I'd hope that we aren't that reactive of a club.

We have seen the improvement in the past couple of weeks, losing this game won't diminish that in any way.

I'll back the boys in to win anyway because I always do come match day.

Sam Mitchell has removed himself from the Collinwood hunt, more interestingly, the reason why he rejected the advances is because he has an "in concrete coaches job" in waiting. Thats telling on 2 fronts. A/ eddie rejected, B/mitchell, Hawks (kennett) and clarko have already agreed on Kirribilli. Clarko is just negotiating with the market (hard to get). The changeover should be at the end of '22, unless clarko gets accommodated end of this season, elsewhere.
The fact that Collingwood have gone to Mitchell, tells me, if true, they don't want clarko, perhaps a/ he's not suitable for them/rebuild, B/collingwood know he's not available (deal done elsewhere). I hope its not us.

Seeing how he is doing with this new bunch of kids we'd be very fortunate if it is us
...only if the review recommends a change. He is a fabulous coach.

Continue to be smashed around the ball and can't get a centre clearance to save ourselves. God help us if we put in those second and third quarter efforts against the cats

Unless clarko wasn’t fully agreeing with the plan
Yep, If it was Clarko we wanted then it would have to be this year..
Stringing Teague on for another year waiting on Clarko, is unacceptable..

We either cut Teague this year or fully support him going forward..

Clarko strikes me as the kind of uber competitive **** who would like to win another 10 flags rather than retire gracefully at the end of next year. I think he will want to go somewhere to continue senior coaching. He is young.

I am a bit critical of Teague but he seems to have finally made some defensive changes lately so good on him.

Maybe he survives the review if the recent form, albeit not brilliant but nonetheless competitive and bringing wins continues.

And if we generally don't improve enough in 2022 then maybe then Clarkson and Carlton can get together and talk.

This. We're not stringing Teague on by allowing him to see out his contract, the ball's in his court and by honouring his contract we are giving him the chance to prove his coaching ability.

Not a bad thing at all to have Clarkson as a potential to take the reins if we under perform next year. Just as long as we don't renew Teague's contract prematurely.

I'm ambivalent about Teague going forward, just don't want to see yet another broken contract.

if he ends up on 9-10 wins he probably can't be sacked.

although we sacked ratts and he won 11 games.
There was a bit more going on there than just wins/losses. Position became untenable.

We’ll probable finish up with 8 wins, and Pies game a 50/50 proposition
They can turn it on unexpectedly & surprise, comfortable about North and Suns wins only, can’t see us knock off any other remaking team.
Cats and Port you'd expect to lose, but we've also matched up well against both recently, so chance of stealing one or even both, however unlikely.
The rest are all winnable.

Elaborate. Teague or Ratten?

Ratten. The same old story, a group of mainly senior players no longer playing for the coach, I remember the game against Gold Coast, it was virtually like the players giving him the boot.

Not seeing that with Teague at this stage.

As others have mentioned we are starting to see some subtle changes in the game plan that seem to be working.

One thing I want to see more of from Teague and that's showing a bit more passion. I don't want him to be like Chris Scott but if something really good happens I want a fist pump or if he doesn't agree with a dodgy umpiring decision I want him to swipe a water bottle off the bench in front of him.

From what I've heard, there was a very good reason why he lost the playing group.

Which was?

From memory, we had a shithouse start vs. gold coast but came roaring home and almost pinched it. despite our horror injury list we grinded out 11 wins. i'm sure a few senior players had the shits with him but to say he completely lost the group is untrue imo.
