How many players is that in reality though? Kemp and Philp are injured, Ramsay is a third round pick in his second year after a covid interrupted year. Carroll has been injured, durdin is in his first year and was pick 40ish. Who else could he have played to meet this criteria?

You must remember that facts spoil a good story though, particularly when you consider that Teague's first full year as coach coincided with the Covid scratch matches.

Which other coaches out there have PREMIERSHIP experience???
Mark Williams the only one that comes to mind.
And what Premiership experience does David Teague have exactly??
Ross Lyon made it to the GF 3 times and came very close to winning.
Does anyone honestly believe that this team is headed to a GF any time soon?
Maybe St.Kilda of 08-11 were star studded and Freo of 13-15 but it still takes someone to put them together.
None of those teams made a GF before he took over.
Do we have enough stars though, that's what I'd be asking.
ATM half of them always seem to be injured.
Fact is we've had a horrible run with injury the past few years.
Hard to get a gauge on where we're really at without a full side on the park.

You seem to be having an each way bet here. Or is that just me?

Can anyone imagine any coach actually wanting to come to Carlton if Teague was sacked?

Teague who was appointed on the back of supporters basically demanding he get the job, to being sacked in barely more than a year's time again at the whim of the supporter base (who also managed to get the last half-dozen coaches sacked too).

Any prospective coach would know there would be highs & lows, and that those lows would get you sacked at Carlton. This poisonous supporter base makes it an impossible job to accept.
Correct. And therefore what we must do (as outlined by someone here earlier today or yesterday) is to get all footy department related issues right first. Allow Teague to continue in the meantime and reassess at a later date. We’ve got to stop this Merry go round thingy with coaches.

Norm Smith - Barassi - Blight - Goodwin?
Hafey - Sheedy - Thompson / Hardwick
Kennedy - Parkin - Matthews

follow the lines .... Matthews ... Voss or Leppitsch ..

history is on the side of premiership players that played under a great coach !!

If the players managed to kick straight and get the lead out to 7-8 goals, it most likely would have been a bridge too far for the Dogs to come back from..

Teague cannot be blamed for that.

Having said that, there have been too many fadeouts from big leads under Teague that cannot be ignored. Sacking him is not the answer, but some adjustments to the gameplan and giving players time to catch their breath and not be exhausted by the final quarter is essential.
They shot out to well over 100 points. A goal or two more wasn't enough...

Explain Clarkson or Beveridge then ?

Be more inclined to think it’s on the side of assistant coaches who have worked with a high quality senior coach.

Like Ross Lyon lol?

Could be placed in the Walls coaching family tree I suppose, it’s fizzled out. Certainly doesn’t have the pedigree of Sheedy’s l8ne. It pains me to say it but all premierships since 2013 have been won by coaches in this line.
(Although Ross wasn’t that far off a couple of times.)

The trick, however is to identify the coach with the credentials and drive rathe4 than to identify A notional “pedigree”.

Then ensure the off field and resources match the onfield ambition.

As much as I was disappointed by the coach8ng in the last Qtr or so, we haven’t given Teague the last part yet.

Wasn’t he just a player in the North U19s ?

I get where you’re tak8ng this, must be tongue 😛 n cheek, but he never coached under Pagan, (I don’t think anyway).

Even Pagan sits in Sheedy line hav8ng coached the reserves at Essendon.

Or the Roos coaching line as he was a Sydney when they won wasn't he?

Teague's game plan and game style is just a copy of Don Pyke's run and gun style..
Compliments Sydney well, because they are naturally a defensive team, it allows them to attack.

  • Worked well at Adelaide, because they could defend..
In 2017 they conceded over 100 points only 4 times in the home and away season and had an average points against of 80.72.
Their big pronged forward line and quality smalls also averaged 109.77 points a game
  • Compared to Carlton, the Teague trying to turn us into Adelaide team.
Teague's defensive structure have conceded over 100 point 5 times out of 8 games and had an average points against of 93.38
Our forward line averages 88.88 points a game.. While Harry literally kicks 25% (Ave; 3.75 goals) of our score each week
Really don't think Teague is a very good prospect as a senior coach..
He would be a fantastic assistant to a defensive minded coach, helping with attack..

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, pity we didn't go
Head coach - Lyon
Senior Assistant - Teague

We would be in a much different position than we are now..

In saying that I don't want Lyon as our head coach

What about the odds about Voss and Leppitsch who were both sacked by the club they played with.

great point ... the other fact is multi successful coaches do not coach the team they played for ... particularly Voss should never have coached the Lions !!

Pretty good thing you added the "multi" to that. Since 1972 there have been eight coaches that coached a premiership for the team they played with. Beveridge was the last. Thirteen of the current eighteen clubs have shared the flags. So more than half of flag winners have been coached to a premiership by a former player.

Don't mind me I like this kind of shit.

Then I suggest you look up the definition of “odds” ?

Think I have a pretty good handle on the definition of odds. Riddle me this-in the last 50 years how many unsuccessful sacked coaches have gone on to coach a premiership at another club?

Ergo what are the odds on the two mentioned being successful in a second stint?

Isn't that an example of odds as they relate to betting?
