This club would be the laughing stock of the league if we sacked him this week.

He has not lost the players, the club is not in fact/crisis, and factor in the difficulties with the new COVID outbreak in Victoria (which now seems almost certain to have an extended lockdown period in in Melbourne), sacking Teague now is simply not going to happen.

Wait and see till the end of the season and make an evaluation/decision then.
There's no point sacking him now I agree. We'd be left with that idiot Barker coaching us again.

The decision to start the fourth quarter with Pittonet in the ruck was terminal. Absolutely bizarre. It's as if he hadn't watched the first 3 quarters.

That's what worries me, in the box it really is as if he isn't watching. Sitting there statuesque... sometimes wonder if it's a weekend at Bernies job with Barker really calling the shots and pulling the strings.

No to removing a coach after 2 years in the job. Do what the successful clubs do and surround the coach with the proper people to help him develop and become successful.

Time for us to behave like a serious football club, not churning through coaches ad Infinitum.
Agreed...but what happens if that replacement coach is Clarkson?

I consider changing me mind.

I'm not so sure that Clarkson would be the answer to anything. I'd be very hesitant about creating another Malthose situation.

It would very be surprising if he was sacked this week, but could anybody mount a strong argument that it would be the wrong decision?
They can't change support coaches until 2022 so no point ditching David now imho.

By a gazillion.
For Voss maybe...with Hodgy as a line coach...he is training right now.
Or stick with Teaguey and change those around him.

Clarkson is a saviour move. I’d prefer to do as gab213 said and surround Teague with competent assistant coaches. We been through 8 coaches in 21 years? Parkin, Brittain, Pagan, Ratts, Malthouse, Barker, Bolton, Teague. That’s less than 3 years a coach. You don’t build success by changing the coaches every 2-3 years. It’s a recipe for disaster.

I really hope Luke Sayers and Liddle at end of the season do a full review. I think there’s a lot of changes need to be made in our footy department.

Brad Lloyd - Gone.

Hasn’t turned over the assistants or done a review when changes have needed to be made for several years. Gave Andrew Russel to much power. Was far to late identifying development uplift. Teagues needed help for a few years and his solution is a part timer who lives in another state.

-Possible replacement - Justin Leppitch. Experienced football man in numerous roles and had success as player and coach (Richmond)

Andrew Russel - Gone.

On to much coin and given to much power. He’s unaccountable for his actions. It hasn’t worked. Is he past it? Someone else would get same results on less coin.

David Teague - 50/50. Coaching turnover makes me say stay. Results and lack of improvement make me say go.

As above, hasn’t improved any players. Doesn’t give youngsters experience. Game plan is shocking. Can’t stop a run of goals.

-Possible replacement - Voss

We need a coach with a hard edge and someone who will look players in the eye and demand effort. Would have learned a lot from his time under Hinkley and now ready for a second chance. I think he would need quality assistants around him but as the focal person I think he would be good.

Barker, Bruce, Stanton, Amos - Gone

All been around a while and a full turnover is needed. We need experienced assistants from successful programs and are highly rated.

Midfield - Joel Corey

Midfield strategy - Nigel Lappin

Backline - Chris Newman

Forward - Craig Macrae

It’s alarming but only really Liddle has earnt his spot. Membership is up and we are strong off the field.

Everyone in the footy department is on notice in my opinion.

21 is oddly specific.

If you make it 20 and don't include Barker (because I have no idea why you would include a caretaker coach) then it's roughly 3 and a half years per coach. That's a respectable amount of time, especially when one of those coaches essentially sacked himself and never wanted to be there in the first place.

How does Liddle earn his spot when he employed his mate to head our football department? The clubs core business is football and he has failed dismally. Liddle selected Teague, Lloyd, Russell, Agresta, Worsfold etc.
Absolute disaster!!

I know he has a laconic style but he seems quite lazy in his approach, which ultimately rubs off on the players.

How could you possibly know that? Seems like guesswork.

The way Docherty is playing ... should have demanded more weeks ago ...

was terrible today and cost goals

1A example of not setting high standards !!

Just as it is guesswork the other way around, Elmer. How could you know that it isn’t? It’s an observation from LFT and one that at this point in time seems plausible. I think it’s clear more than anything else he needs some mentoring and some help on game day, not a half assed attempt from Worsfold in Perth

Ok, take out Barker... look at the successful coaches. How long have they been at their respective clubs? At what point in their respective careers were they looking down the barrel of a gun in regards to their continued employment?

Carlton are a success driven club. If we aren’t (weren’t) successful in the past, we would sack the coach and bring in one who has been successful in the past. Pagan and Malthouse were passed their use-by dates when we brought them in based on past glories and promises of success. Both were hobbled by the state of the club thanks to big Jack. Brits was a tactical coach, and Ratts, Bolton, and Teague were all coaching tyros when we appointed them. Ratts was good at getting the players to work for him, but when shit went sideways, he had no answers. Bolton was/is a development coach and Teague has the makings of a good coach... so long as the club maintains faith in him.

As for 21 years... start at the beginning... 2001 was really the start of all the shit Jack left us in. Suspended financial penalties and excluded from the second and third rounds of the draft, but 2000 is just as easy. 21 seasons from 2000-2020.

This is an issue in itself. CEO is tied to these appointments, we need sweeping changes, massive conundrum.

Teague survives the rest will go, its would have to be an admission of failure by CEO on his own decisions

Interesting times ahead
