Thing that irritates me about Teague game plan is the lack of effort.

You look at Adelaide and St Kilda and we have far more talent then them but they bring intensity and pressure. Why isn’t this a non-negotiable with us. Effort and harassing and chasing the opposition should be mandatory. Evenif we are playing bad, by bringing that defensive pressure all over the ground you can get away with wins

Agree on Adelaide and it might have something to do with the coach putting a line in the sand last year and telling high profile players like Brad Crouch that if you won't defend you may as well pack your bag, whilst we have players that everyone knows can't defend who continue to get games each and every week.

The St Kilda call is a little perplexing though - they have been even more conditional than we have this season so far - and their pressure in certain games like the * loss was downright embarrassing.

Saints? That have had 2 × 12 goal spankings, one against the bummers

i prefer Lyon, why?

He has worked with average/above average lists and done well. Lyon is a clean slate, he'll want to do it his way and
he'd want total control of assistants. He's not forever, but he'll get the best out of our list, and they'll play accountable football

I know he's desperate for a flag, fk knows we are too. His ingame coaching is second to none.
His previous leadership groups are in awe of him. He previously coached at Carlton as an assistant before going to syd
and he followed the blues as a kid/teen.

we were into him around bolton era , forced Freemantle's hand for his last contract

Clarko is in the malthouse mould - not suited to list development

Let’s see if there are any changes to the 22.
Half of the 22 each week are players from other clubs yet most of our list is made up of players we have drafted. We need to mix it up in terms of selection.
The same old players cannot lead anymore and we all know who they are.
Otherwise we will win 7-8 games again with no exposure to the players we have drafted.
We need to be bold.
The world’s slowest rebuild.
Fremantle already gone past us and Sydney on the way with younger players.
Sick of seeing the same players who are obviously no longer as good as what they were.

If you stop and think - how many of our young brigade have improved under Teague? Weitering, Walsh and Harry the only three that come to mind. I can count more who have gone backwards than forwards (SPS, Dow, Setterfield, O’Brien, Kennedy, Williamson - the list goes on.) Then talented players like Cuningham who have stagnated. Massively concerning.

My other issue with him is - does he have the hard edge required to be the successful coach we need him to be? I haven’t seen a successful premiership coach in the ilk of Teague.

He’s not the man we need imo.

Really hope i can quote this post in a few weeks or at the end of the season and eat my words. But i’m not holding my breath.

I'm 50/50 on Teague, not sure if his a head coach or just good assistant coach..

Before I make my decision, I would like to give Teague the best available assistant coaches to find out 100% (Leppitsch, Solomon and others)

On The First Crack, it's the first time I have ever agreed with that idiot David King..
Our development of players has been deplorable.. It has to be development because no club have missed on this many high draft pics, since 2015..

Teague has to take major responsibility for that. Has pushed players into positions that do not suit them, for senior players on their last legs (Murphy, Curnow, Betts, etc). Everyone has a crack at Bolton and yes he went too far the other way - however Teague has gone too far the opposite way. We needed a happy medium. Now we are paying the price.

Teague has zero charisma, and doesn’t exude leadership unfortunately it’s a significant problem . I respect the guy for his effort thus far particularly early on , but if we get thrashed a few times over the next 4 games or so his position may be untenable.

Lol since when has a club sacked a coach after round 5?
And Ross Lyon has said he will never coach again anyway

I backed Teague all last year. I’ve become 50/50 on him. Seems to get regularly out coached. Doesn’t make the tough calls. Not entirely sure what our system/ game plan is.

wouldn’t be surprised if he’s gone by halfway through the year. Whether or not it’s warranted, I’m not quite sure as of yet.

I do worry about Harry staying with us if we have another disappointing year. This is what can start to happen if you never get out of the tough times.
Harry should stay in his lane and start kicking goals REGULARLY

It's a shame we didn't get Mark Williams across when we had a chance in some sort of role and as insurance.

Head of development at the Dees and look how quickly they have turned things around.

Everywhere he goes success follows.

I suggested it some time ago. Got shot down

I agree, I still believe this attacking gameplan is the issue

Tweak that and things can change quickly

If Teague remains stubborn, then he has no excuses
It doesnt really matter what your game plan is, whats important is that you can play it better than other clubs can defend it

I never see Teague barking instructions to runners with the phone, I never see him turn his head to others in the box
He seems to whisper to himself. He resembles a fan with the best seat in the house.

I don't think he knows what to do in game. He waits for the breaks to make adjustments.

This also suggests that he doesn't have a strong assistant pushing some ideas on him.

He is too close with the players.

Look I don't think we are improving at all under Teague. The development of the likes of SPS, Willo, Setters has stalled.

Next 4 games will make or break.

We will probably be 3 and 6 after 9 and I could see Hawks beating us in R10.

To be the best, you have to align yourself with the best. It’s no wonder the success of hawthorn and Richmond has correlated with a a strong assistant coaching line up at both clubs. No opposition club would touch any of our assistants with a 10 ft pool. If Teague gets the nod for next year then the Club ought to give the guy some proper resources in the form of better assistants and a head/director of coaching.

I like Teague and always hear positive things about the culture of the club.

Currently, he has a few issues, starting with his game outdated game plan which is making us despite having a very talented defence ultra-easy to score against.

Our team presses up far too high meaning teams constantly get us out the back and or have entries into numerous 1 on 1s or 2 on 2s.

Of course, this in part is also the list management issue as we are devoid of mid-field depth with Dow, LOB and the underwhelming SPS looking to be poor selections in what were weak drafts.

We appear to have no players on the list right now that can solve these midfield issues as Martin and Fisher are nice players but not prime on ballers and the twos appear to have nobody.

We just have to hope we can find 2 or 3 B plus mids this draft and trade period.

add Cripps to that list, he is a shadow of the player he was 2 years ago in terms of decision making and effectiveness.

I really don't want Ross Lyon as coach. I don't want to have to watch that dire football week after week. He's the AFLs version of Mourinho, only without the titles. Park the bus and score just enough to win.
