As I said a few pages ago - needs his own backroom staff and assistance in the box on game day. Stinks that most of the previous regime were kept. Same thoughts being said the last few pages.

I want him to make it. But he needs to start showing something as much as this group of players do. As responsible as each other. We play like we did on Saturday or as we did against the Pies on a consistent basis, don’t expect any further growth any time soon. The issue is the rebuild is 6 years in and aside from gradual improvement we have seen us stagnate. I think after 6 years+ of patience in relation to rebuilding, it’s natural to want to see your team flying by this point. It’s not the fact we are 2-3, it what we are producing on the pitch that is worrying.

Keeping faith, let’s see where we sit come end of August

I would rather Brendan Bolton back - at least Bolton played the kids.

Yes, of course, and killed their confidence as they were beaten by 100 points. Who'd want to support a team that is capable of pushing even the best teams close at times that just needs to learn how to win. It's frustrating right now but a long way from the feeling of hopelessness of a few years ago.

Playing kids for the sake of it when they aren't ready isn't the answer. They'd be like lambs to the slaughter.

Lyon is washed up, far from it. Maybe have been a little jaded, but a couple of years would have reinvigorated him.

Garbage. Freo fans were calling for his head in his last few years. He's a shock jock on Footy Classified now. If we entertain the idea of him running the coaches box then we deserve everything we get .

The coaches you mentioned for Carlton, were appointments by idiots with cash, and little understanding of anything else.
Blind Freddy could see we were a pension fund for has-beens and their mates (Pagan - micky martin/ malthouse/ daisy )

Again, just re-writing history. Blind Freddy could not see Mick was just topping up his pension. He had just come off consecutive Grand Final appearances and had only spent a year out of the game. The idiots with cash you mentioned are still at the club; if we recruit a big name coach like you want, are they suddenly not involved in this one? Or do we just blame then when it doesn't work out?

we need discipline in application and effort every game. ATM we burn at 40% win to loss and I cant see it improving.
If you think Teague is the answer, just because time will fix everything, remember its a win-lose business

There is no magic answer. This is the problem with supporters like you; always looking for a quick-fix to correct our errors because you know - it's a win/loss business.

Teague alone isn't the answer, a big shiny million-dollar coach isn't the answer, recruiting a few players isn't the answer. Identifying our issues across the board and addressing each and every one of them in a collective manner is the answer. Not just one ****ing person.

If its assistant coaches that we need then lets get it done.
IIRC Amos is our defence line coach, and seems to be doing a great job. but when they have an off day its seems to be due to the lack of midfield pressure trying to stop F50 entries.
Our forward line seems hard to judge because the F50's we get are not composed enough.
It seems to me that it all rests with the midfield, and whoever is coaching them. Fix the midfield, fix everything else.
We should be trying to get the best available to knock our midfield into shape

Let’s see if there are any changes to the 22.
Half of the 22 each week are players from other clubs yet most of our list is made up of players we have drafted. We need to mix it up in terms of selection.
The same old players cannot lead anymore and we all know who they are.
Otherwise we will win 7-8 games again with no exposure to the players we have drafted.
We need to be bold.
The world’s slowest rebuild.
Fremantle already gone past us and Sydney on the way with younger players.
Sick of seeing the same players who are obviously no longer as good as what they were.

really ? I bet we could beat them

It's not 20 years, It's a totally different team, it's a very different club and a coach who hasn't even coached for two years.
Exactly what are your expectations? What is inevitable?

I expect:

  • Any player who doesn't perform for an extended period to be dropped - not just the kids. He continually keeps naming Murphy, Betts, Casboult and Curnow in the starting line up week in week out regardless of output.
  • The team to train with intent. I don't care what anyone says, if the tackle pressure isn't sky high with the intent to bury the prey at training, it's not going to happen during matches. That also has a knock on effect on disposal under pressure. There's nowhere near enough pressure at training, that's why they look a million bucks on the training track, hitting targets more often than not - they don't fear their team mates because they know their team mates won't hurt them. Come game day and they are being hunted by players that want to bury them - it's all too hard to deal with.
  • Players play in positions that they are suited for. Kennedy on a wing? Murphy HFF? SPS in the backline? Setters on a wing? Williamson forward? I could go on but point has been made.
This crap about "he hasn't even coached for 2 years" I'm sorry, but it's a cop out. We haven't been rebuilding for 6 years so we can have a coach come in and make obvious mistakes. He wants better ball use well he's not going to get that from Ed Curnow and Levi Casboult. He wants ruthless aggression, he's not getting that from Murphy. He wants a 25 yr old Betts out there, he's getting 34 yr old Betts instead.

What exactly is he telling his assistants? He's talking about better ball use, they've been bombing it forward for YEARS even before he was there, his captain is bombing the ball forward when his go to is to win possession and hand ball to the better users... Stanton, Barker and O'Keefe are either not listening to him or they are... either way there is something very wrong.....

I never see Teague barking instructions to runners with the phone, I never see him turn his head to others in the box
He seems to whisper to himself. He resembles a fan with the best seat in the house.

I don't think he knows what to do in game. He waits for the breaks to make adjustments.
Based on 5 second snippets the coverage offers. I’m not a Teague enthusiast but, these type of comments are just mind numbing.

Our defensive efforts on the weekend were deplorable. Those “efforts” should be non negotiable every week. That doesn’t require a game plan, super coach or experienced hard core assistants. If that’s on Teague he needs to own that, it’s primarily on the players though. Too often we were reactive, slow to respond and lacked aggression. Any game plan from a coach will be rubbish if those intangibles are “negotiable”.

The public backlash should be enough to get a significant response against Brisbane from coach and players.

What you said is spot on.

Unfortunately, we said the same thing after the Collingwood game... and many others in years prior...

I want players who can put pressure on and tackle. Look at Cottrell who isn’t the most skilful but look what his intent has brought the team the last few weeks. Look at what Fogarty has brought to the team the whole year.

The sooner we get rid of Murph, Betts (and Curnow though he does tackle but terrible ball use) and play young players with aggression like Stocker, Philp, Honey we will be better off

You're calling for a coach to be sacked after less than 2.5 years in the job and I'm the sniper?

Yes.. 20 years of a sh*te sandwich from making decisions that you're currently advocating for. You probably barracked for the Ratten sacking and Malthouse hiring.

I'm sure Richmond regretted their assistants overhaul before 2017 yeah?

Spare me. You have zero idea.
no, you want to believe someone like me supported the sacking of Rattan, its simply not true.
You presume Im calling for Teagues sacking, I'm only preparing for inevitable Meaning, less wins than last year.
I prefer someone like teague to be successful, live up to the promise, but make no mistake, there is a redline.

for a lot of talk , and 12 years on these boards, maybe you should walk the dog, or the cat a bit more, chunky lover lol

Thanks for putting time into giving a considered answer, you make some good points, but I wasn't asking you BF :tearsofjoy:

Teague has coached our group to just 22 games (17 of which were in COVID hubs with crappy 12v12 reserves games for development).

Now supporters want him gone already...

Yeah cant see him being sacked. Teague has enough credentials to be backed in for a couple of seasons.

IMO the club should appoint an eminent person to be his mentor asap... Seems many clubs are doing it these days.

Also, in a different note. Remember when hardwick didn't deliver? Samething happened with bomber Thompson... And he became a dual premiership coach with an interesting resume of extra curricular activities

There was mass sulking on this site about Lyon, Roos etc for fear of Teague being not allowed to do his job. I think it was a mistake, the football department isn't exactly radiating a success filled vibe at the moment.

my expectation is what the CEO announces - finals
I dare say if those expectations are not met, i don't expect the CEO to say, just kidding.

Is that unreasonable?

That was and still is my expectation, bottom of the eight.

Roos would have cost a squillion in his consultant capacity but, it has worked everywhere he has gone. North cannot possibly be included at this stage.

Sorry, this is Carlton. If he doesn't get the desired results, the board won't give a toss about credentials, whatever they are.

Could it be possible thst we are spending a heap on Andrew Russel and this is why we have no quality assistant. If so we should get rid of Russel asap, hasn’t improved much

Then why do the members back the board in?

I was not aware that Philip and honey play with aggression. If true that is really good.
