Ok. Take him out.
How about the rest of them?

Sorry - it shit me to tears when we had to turn to Whitnall as captain. Was a grim situation and showed how far we’d fallen - a depth from which we’re still trying to recover.

I’m not huge on the idea of turning to past players but I’m not passionately against having some around either.. I think an issue for us in that regard is that not many of our current players are going to know anything much about those former champions, so if the idea is that they’ll be held in such esteem that the players will lift for them, I’m not sure it’s the right approach. If it’s just to get a bit of old Carlton spirit around the place, maybe it can’t hurt.

It’s a indictment on our coaching staff that de bear and Taranto had more tackles than our whole team at half time
And our players, it’s a ongoing disgrace how pathetic we are in this department of the game...
We are Defensively piss weak individually and as a team, due too the shithouse standards this club, coaches and our players who have long on preformed excepted and still refuse too enforce the standards, demand the non negotiables for absolutely everyone who pulls on the jumper...

My big question this week is who is coaching on match days at the moment?

Because aside it really can't be Teague. Not once on that whole dung pile of a match did they show him evem reacting in the coaches box, let along talking to someone, or providing any sort of feedback to the players. He popped up to speak to then during the 1/4 time and 3/4 time breaks but during the match itself... but he just never looks interested during the game. You never see him chewing out a player, reacting to an umpiring decision, even in heated discussion with aasistants.

If we found out that what we see in the coaches box is a lifelike doll because Teague prefers to watch in seclusion on a TV downstairs, it would honestly answer some questions for me.

Fact is Carlton was a better team under Bolton (with more promise and definitely structure) than Teague.
They have only regressed to the point where their style of play is totally incoherent and lacks any flow.
The buck stops with the coach and he needs to be replaced.
While they're at it, why don't they bring back some club champions as assistants, Bradley, camporeale, Williams, SOS, Manton, whitnall, kouta and maybe even Waite has the makings of a very competent assistant Coaching panel.
A senior director of coaching should come together with whomever is the new coach.

Yep, we really need another old boys get together on our coaching panel.

Genuine question: if we're still ordinary then who do we blame?

DT has been through more in his family life than anyone should have to deal with, let alone a husband and father in his late 30s - his reaction after the *fc game says it all
Exactly.

I'm starting to think the game doesn't mean as much to him as it used to.

Can you elaborate on the credibility of that poster?
I honestly think Teagues love for the club and he will do the honourable thing and fall on his sword at the end of the year

he can’t quit now , who would take over Stanton ?? Give me a break, he has to ride the storm to the last round now , playing group is tapping out for the year , senior boys again leading the charade

the club failed him when they appointed by having no experience or fresh coaches around him

( if dees can get Williams and retain McCartney all ex afl coaches , and swans get Pyke , we had money to spend , the club just didn’t )

Pardon the interruption.

I have to make a shout out for Teague.

As a player he was limited but got the absolute best out of himself. IIRC he won a BnF. He was also crazy brave and calm under pressure.

I reckon the best coaches come from the ranks of ex players who struggled at the top level. Fagan and Noble never got a shot but are doing a pretty job at the Brions and Norf.

Being calm and not blistering the paint off the walls should not be confused for lack of thought or passion.

What a difference two weeks makes. I've flipped. Lost cause situation.
If the players wanted Teague they would have responded with ferocious intent.

They didnt.

They all should be on notice. Cripps should be told to sign, or we will trade you to a club that gets CARLTON the best deal.

Cripps is a CAPTAIN its his job to lead and lead via his commitment to our cause.

He wants out, well see ya later buddy. Circus has been going on since pre trade week last year

I don't know about his family life and I'm incredibly sad for his tragedies...life >>>>>> football

However, nobody put a gun to his head when he made the transition from (non-applicant) caretaker coach to accepting a full time senior coach of a large sporting organisation...a job that can destroy the best men, regardless of their personal situation...again, I don't know what his family issues are and I hope only the best outcome possible for him!!!

I’ve wanted him gone for a while.
But last night DT’s position became untenable.

Zero intensity, 40 tackles for the game, it was truly a training drill for the Giants for most of the game.

He might continue to the end of the year but having his next year will now impact Carlton’s off field - membership, revenue, recruitment

Just watched the last nights press conference and Teague pretty much admitted as such saying that there has been some growth individually but as a collective we have probably gone backwards a bit over past couple of years. This is not an endorsement of Bolton but looks very bad for Teague.

I’d also argue that while there has been some improvement in some younger players this seems more due to natural progression (and in some cases arguably even that has not been fully realised) some of the more established players have seemingly gone backwards.

How about the rest of them?

You bring people in,who know what they are doing and have experience, out of that lot, only Campo has had a lot of experience in the AFL coaching system and I think he was kicked out during Adelaides review.

Not saying having some ex players around in some roles isn’t good but you don’t give jobs to guys because they used to be good Carlton players.

Problem with Teague isn't his manner, it's his lack of football intel.

This is a coach that is on the public record as saying:

"I won't make statements" when asked about whether he would drop players

"Some of the Senior Players didn't like it" when talking about a spray he delivered during the Brisbane game last year.

These are truly bewildering, as much as they are embarassing, comments to be made by the Senior Coach of an alleged professional sporting organisation.

The whole club is just too "nice". We fear upsetting the players internally or externally. Does anybody think the club ordered the players to the beach at 5am this morning for recovery? Perhaps some of the senior players may not have liked that either...?

Public rhetoric from Lloyd, Liddle, Teague, and even MLG when he chooses to bob his head up is consistently excuse mongering. It filters down and now we see a playing group playing like they know excuses will be provided for their performance. The Captain(s) don't appreciate the importance of their own roles in setting standards as a consequence of this.

Then we have the "external review" - notwithstanding the fact that Luke Sayers is already privately trying to offer the godfather deal to Alistair Clarkson. Does anybody have any faith that the review gets run without interference? I fear it's just a smokescreen to cover for pre-meditated decision making.

Culture is completely shot, and I don't think you break the nexus of the status quo until most if not all administrative figure heads are changed at the club. There needs to be a big environmental shock to change this. The skies are going to get a lot darker before they get brighter

Bolton had no structure forward … Teague defence

Both were out of their depth

Bolton was appointed after a “process” … Teague on the run

Next coach needs to be a stronger person …. With right motivation, ie no MM type there for self purposes !!

He has chosen to coach the Carlton football club. He isn't doing a good job period. Whilst I can sympathise he may have personal issues this doesn't stop the fact this football club has gone backwards at an alarming rate. He needs to put his hand up and take responsibility and move on. The sooner the better for everyone.

We will lose to the crows next week. Hard to see the coach surviving that, is there?
I think with Barker already gone and the reduction in the soft cap for assistants. I’m not sure if they could afford to let Teague go before the end of the season.

Teague goes and you have Amos, Stanton, Bruce, Power left. That’s not enough for an AFL team

Look, the primary problem is not the head coach or the coaching panel. The players are THE problem. We have to face up to the fact that, for whatever reason, this group of players don’t play well together. And there is no indication that is going to change.

We have some top end talent but our middle range players are very, very ordinary. Most of the talent brought in from other clubs have proven to be either a bust (McGovern) or disappointing (Marchbank,Martin and Williams).

And to make matters worse one of brightest young emerging stars (Charlie Curnow) whose most serious injuries were self inflicted off the football field.

The rebuild must continue. If that means trading Cripps then so be it.

Disagree
Players become disenchanted when they see the system is flawed
That is on the coach
I've never seen a Carlton side so clueless when it comes to defending
Teagues game style is too attack focussed
That's the underlying issue at play here and it's why he has lost the players
The question now is when do the club make the change?
Soft cap, the review taking 6 to 8 weeks, there's a lot of issues that impact the decision
But the club also have to consider the damage of not acting soon
Walsh was tagged out if it last night but he's also looked a bit over it the last few weeks, I would hate to think he is for the first time thinking Carlton isn't a good club
Will Cerra still want to come to us if we keep losing?
