This is absolutely idiotic by CA, but I would expect nothing less after "Homework-gate"
Not only is the punishment too soft, you're only effectively punishing him from one dead rubber in the CT and then stripping him of critical warm-up fixtures. No doubt they'll **** the entire situation up by picking him for the 1st test anyway.

IMO, should have banned him until after the 2nd test, give him a chance to find some form and merit inclusion in the tour match between the 2nd and 3rd tests, and then pick him if he does indeed demand selection.
He's effectively banned from the first two Tests anyway. Rogers just needs a couple of moderate scores in the warmups, and he'll open with Cowan. Hughes at 3, Clarke at 4, Watto at 5.

There's no way he's getting picked without playing any cricket for 2 months.

I find it very hard to see him playing either of the first two Tests without any match practice for a couple of months. Rogers is almost guaranteed to open with Cowan I reckon.

For the benefit of an Englishman, what's a flog?

Still confused about this myself. We use the term if one sports team thrashes another, we say "they got flogged".

We also use it as a term for an individual. Usually these people are just typical assholes i.e. "Tony Abbott is a flog"

Cheers. Figured it must be something like that. We also use 'flog' to mean a thrashing, including an expensive bowler, i.e. he got flogged all over the place.

sounds solid

there have been a lot of rumours floating around the sydney cricket grapevine re; warners off field activities.

it's hard to determine truth from fact as there is also a lot of jealousy from a lot of people who see him as not much more talented then them but earning shit loads of cash. but no one else divides opinion around the sydney cricket scene like warner, and for the most part he's not well liked.

no doubt his head has gotten a bit big for own shoes, which is why i am sceptical about the validity of the joe root punch story. i don't believe the heads of david warner and glenn maxwell could fit in the one pub together as the same time.

I would raise you Michael Clarke, but your point is well made.

yeah clarkey is a pretty divisive guy too. but like all things sport when you are performing these things tend to be overlooked. he was public enemy number 1 prior to going on this heater, and even now with the team performing the way it is there are question marks being asked.

this shows how much they hated andrew symonds

Andrew Symonds warts and all autobiography would be rivetting reading and would join a lot of dots if ever published unedited. Sadly the feeling was he would never do it, but if he's having to go on "Celebrity Splash" to generate some coin, then he might be closer to doing it than what the initial feeling was.

"They" will be shown to be largely one man.

Can you spill anything?

Malcolm Conn/Crash Craddock reckon he's had to lose about 8kgs recently after essentially being on the piss for 6 weeks @ the IPL, flew over 3 or 4 of his mates from Sydney to party with him.

Conservatively reckon he's made about 8-10 million in earnings already.

I can see why there'd be a lot of jealousy around the traps.

not really, as said i don't know what's true and what's not. everything you've said in your post has been rumoured, same as nbaman's, and a few other things people have posted in here. other things that have been put in papers too.

noticed your location is sydney, if you go to any first grade game in sydney next season there will be no shortage of people with 'warner' stories and opinions.

fwiw i don't even think the people in power at CA really know what's going on, particularly during the ipl carnival when they lose pretty much all control over the players.

David is everything that is wrong with Australian cricket at the moment!! drop the arrogant w***er back to grade cricket!!! There are plenty other cricketers out there who actually want to play for Australia and would work there backside off preparing for an Ashes series!!

a better suspension would have been to suspend him from the first one or two tests, but allow him to play in the warm ups. if he's gonna play it would at least help the team if he has played in the warm ups and had some sort of acclimatisation to the conditions.

Why let him play in the warm ups if he can't play in the first test. I say it's a good move. They've effectively dropped him and can say that it's all his doing AND Rogers and Cowan start batting together. They need as many games as possible to start getting used to each other.
