They say things for public consumption roostersgal. The slam semis and finals are the best and biggest games by a mile and they will admit this oprivately though not publicly.
A bit strong, your argument would support the abolition of the Presidents' Cup and Ryder Cup (golf).
My argument is that many annual sports should be played every 2 or 4 years, otherwise their frequency renders them irrelevant.
Davis Cup is definitely one event that should not be held every single ****ing boring year.
That said, can't say I'm upset Australia are out of the World Group.
You don't see the top talents ducking out of Ryder Cup R+B. Ryder Cup is geniune competition. Davis Cup is frankly irrelevant to fans. I never ever hear anyone discuss it. You are right that perhaps bi annual or ever every four years would help because as it is now the reality is no one cares.

No-one cares here when Australia is losing.
But when we win, it is the greatest competition of all, and proves how geat we are at sports.
Just on a different note, Serbia's celebrations after Djokovic beat Guccione showed a complete lack of class. Rather than shake hands with their opponents, the stadium lights go down and the Serbian team dry hump each other on the baseline. w***ers.
Not much to get excited about as far as we are concerned. Hewitt did well to win on the first day but can't be expected to win 3 games over the three days. We need to get a reasnoble number 2 or hopefully long term a number one with Hewitt as the number 2. Also as good as Hanley is in the Doubles we need to get someone else to play with him.

Agreed! Since when has Hewitt EVER been a decent doubles player..yes he played well with Rafter..but my dead dog could look good playing with Rafter! I do not understand the facination with Hewitt as a doubles player. Imo, we'd be better playing someone like Guiccone to be honest as a doubles partner.
