What's your thoughts on Baldi? I mistook him for Flanders early on and he seemed like he knew where to go to find the ball and used it pretty well by foot (missed a few handballs).

a few weeks ago i had him as 1 to watch since he returned from his injury and he has been really good in the Championships so far in his 2 games, also he has had a good run in the nab league prior to the champs, he is doing very well this season, he is a natural accumulator, in and under clearance mid with good work rate, can also kick a goal.

i dont think he will be an elite prospect, he has been injured a bit this season i believe, he is a good contested mark, he is a rangy tallish forw, he was good in bursts for GWV last season as a 16 yr old and has been good in bursts for Oak this yr, he has potential, he just needs to have a clear run of games and some good performances to put his name up there, this is an early list and doesnt have SA and WA talent of which i hear theres a lot in 2020(for SA anyways) so i would think at this stage Ugle-Hagan is tracking as a late first/early 2nd round pick for 2020 potentially, but it all depends on the next 18 months for these guys tbh.

As a bottom ager this is a huge game. Would love to see more of this from him. First game back for Oakleigh since round 3 I think.

out of this weeks Championship games

Players that are rising in the ranks: McAsey, Serong, Young, Baldi, L.Williams, Weightman, Robertson, Henry, Taylor, Bennell

Players dropping in the ranks: Warner, J.Mahony, Anderson(i think Serong has passed him), Mott, Dean, Dow(little bit)
Interesting on Mott, I thought he was easily VMs best mid. 8 clearances from memory and I thought his game versus country was pretty good too. I've got him rising.
Warner looked to be lining up on Rowell and Anderson at each bounce, and I thought he looked ok up against those two. Like to see him against the other teams before concluding.

I heard about this kid on the weekend, year 11 at Scotch. Apparently mid sized fwd who marks everything...
Played vs Brighton weekend prior, kicked 9 from 14 shots.

He’s super skinny but he’s already 194cms. Has a chance to be a key forward at AFL level if he fills out. I watched him play last year when he was selected to play TAC cup under 18s at 16 but he played as a small. Didn’t have the body to play tall.

i noticed Jordan Jaworski (East) last week and thought he looked alright and then he kicks 7 goals this week, could be a draft bolter chance?
Clever player, good footy IQ, gets to the right spots. Is reasonably strong overhead and has good skills. Accurate kick on goal, not much of him though, slight build and 181cm. Your classic HFF type.

what i liked was how and where he kicked his goals, i dont think any were easy, last week he kicked 2 from about 45m on tough angles which caught my attention and this week most of his goals came from long distance, hard angles or creativity, which is what you look for in a forward.

Ugle-Hagan is a similar type for next season, he is in my list as likely early 2nd round at this stage but obviously things can change as you see more of them.

Mott for me is in a similar position as Will Martyn, they both are accumulators which is good, but they both lack impact or something to separate them from other mids.

my thoughts on the WA V SA Game

WA were strong in the contest and were very clean under pressure, they just couldn't convert their midfield dominance into goals, the SA and WA defence dominated most of the play, the SA and WA forwards didn't look dangerous in that game

WA should have won, they were the better team, but kicking 4.11(35) to 7.4(46) and SA's Taheny getting a soft free 20m out in front really cost WA(6 points was worth a lot in such a low scoring game)

WA
Luke Jackson - had to be BOG, or close to it, dominated the ruck and played well in general play, although against short rucks which makes the game less impressive because you would expect a ruck dominance against KPP's, but very good none-the-less
Robertson - toughed it out in the mid then went back pocket for the last quarter and did ok there, tackles well, at least 2 bone crunching tackles that i can remember
Garcia - played well all game being involved in a lot of clean play, kicked a goal late and had a chance at a 2nd that would have put them 3 points behind with over 7 minutes but missed which was the story of the day
Rivers - was in everything from defence got a lot of disposal but seemed to handball a lot or chip it around instead of kick deep or run
Ruscoe - this guy was great off half back, his deep kicking and ability to find a team mate in the clear going forw was great, his willingness to use his body as a battering ram and toughness were also good signs, he is rising in my draft list
Warner - played ok, but his movement and lack of athleticism could be a concern, but he is one tough bugger on the inside
Sharp - was up and down, kicked out on the full twice and generally his disposal was a mixed bag, needs to improve disposal and impact imo
Henry - when he gets it he uses it well, he also should go up a bit in draft boards i would think
Pina - popped up here and there and just seemed to use it well and provide a bit of run and link up out of defence

some decent performances also from O'Driscoll, Thorne, Anderson, Prior, Johnson, Pasini, Taylor, O'Connor (McDonald if he can kick a goal from 40m+)

SA
Gould - took all the kick ins so got 11 free disposals, in general he had a good but not great game, used the ball safely and impacted contests when he could
Edwards - was close to SA's best i felt, got involved in a lot of critical contests early and kept WA at bay
Schoenberg - put in a strong effort to win poss and hand it off to runners or free team mates
Day - a lot of intercept marks and safe disposal, played really well but is a bit skinny and could be bodied out of contests but has good height and reads the ball in flight very well
McEntee - also contributed quite well, got involved here and there and ended up having a good influence
McNeil - was diving on the ball, handing it off, going for runs, he put everything into his game today and impressed with his desperation to compete
Mead - he had an ok day, was forw early which held him back from getting involved, kicked a goal then late went into the mid where he started to get a few more touches
Hilder/Finlay - both had solid intercept marking games, read the ball well and were hard to get through or passed

some decent performances also from Tucker, Pickett (mostly that snap from 40m on the boundary), Park, Morris, D.Stephens, Taheny(2 goals)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

as for SA talent i was impressed by the defenders Day/Hilder and Finlay, i also liked what McNeil showed and i think Edwards will go high in 2020

i was disappointed by Pickett, Taheny and a little underwhelmed by D.Stephens game even though he did play fairly well, as well as Mead and Morris

for WA Ruscoe is rising in my draft list, he is a talent, Rivers was really good also but could improve, Garcia and Robertson have been good and Luke Jackson played the best game from a ruckman this week albeit an undersized opponent, Henry was a classy performer as well.

im going to wait until after next weekend, but i have had a lot of players move around in my lists after seeing the championship games, i really like the top 35, a few changes in the top 10, my WA and SA talent were pretty good but a few are off in the rankings which i will fix after seeing next weeks games

as for WA and SA a few players have confirmed their place in my list, WA: Robertson, Garcia, L.Jackson, Henry, Sharp, Ruscoe, Rivers, Warner and for SA: Gould, D.Stephens, Mead, Pickett, Day, McNeil, Schoenberg, Taheny, SA is still a work in progress but im more confident in the WA reads, theres bound to be a few slight changes but at this stage thats where im at.

im excited to see next weeks games and to update my lists after seeing the majority of talent, i had to wait so long to see WA and SA talent so its good to have a good understanding of where all the players stand in my mind.

Zach Reid is one to look out for next year, already 200cm and holds down the main key defender post for Gippsland. He is one I feel will start to get noticed once finals start, he has missed the last few games for Gippsland which I’d assume is because of injury as he was also in the mix for Vic Country selection aswell.

No Riley Thilthorpe?
AAU16 ruck last year.

Looks like the Allies boys are together today in Adelaide. Probably the first time since Launceston I’d guess.

Injured currently unfortunately, serious ankle injury. Kid is a gun.

In unfortunate news, Tom Rundle (knee) and Riley Thilthorpe (ankle) have both suffered serious injuries that will take an extended period of time to recover from. Our best wishes go to them and we will do whatever we can to assist with their recoveries.

Hearing very good things about Ugle-Hagan, if he's dogs NGA they'd be very happy.

Dogs are supposedly planning on trading out next year's 1st rounder because they're that confident he'll go early. Looks special so far

its a shame i couldnt see SA v Vic M.

i've made some changes, the top 35 or so is strong and the top 10-15 is really strong with maybe the top 3 elite.

Serong has entered the elite category for me, Garcia has reminded me a lot of Prestia(GC/Rich), Dow, Pickett, Dean and D.Williams have dropped off a bit for me and L.Jackson, Baldi, Weightman, Schoenberg, Ruscoe and Bergman have risen in my ratings

IN: Will Day, Lachlan McNeil, Sam Gaden, Riley Garcia, Adam Carafa, Miles Bergman, Harry Schoenberg, Cody Weightman
OUT: Josh Morris, Liam Delahunty, Sam Thorne, Jackson Barling, Beau O'Connell, Jackson Davies, Mitch Martin, Declan Carmody

so far the Championships have been good to watch, but i was thinking about the players missing from each team either through injury or not selected, more from a Vic and Allies PoV as im not as sure on the SA and WA talent not picked in the squads or injured for the Champs

Vic Country:
Cooper Stephens - Geel - Tall Mid, injured his leg a few weeks before the champs
Flynn Perez - Bend - Half Back, injured his ACL in Pre-season
Darcey Chirgwin - Sand - originally from Geel, had a great comeback game this week, 32 disp, 16 tackles, might get a run?
Chas Karpala - Geel - he is a dark horse for the draft, talented, high tackle count, a good smokey for the draft imo
Charlie Lazzaro - Geel - highly skilled mid for the 2020 pool, wasnt selected in squad

Vic Metro:
Lachlan Stapleton - East - was injured and has made a return recently, might get an opportunity for the last game?
Ryan Byrnes - Sand - similarly injured and returned recently, might get an opportunity in last game?
Zak Pretty - East - not in VM squad, should be, accumulator and high clearance player, also strong bodied and good endurance
Eddie Ford - West - he is VM's Elijah Hollands and yet wasnt selected in the squad, he and Hollands will be players to watch in the 2020 pool
Josh Clarke - East - very classy half back in the 2020 pool, wasnt selected for squad
Jackson Davies - North - composed half back from northern knights

Allies:
Ben Kelly - Murr - one of the better rucks in the pool, 19 yr old, has not got a game yet for Allies
Logan Fitzgerald - Bend - active half back with skill, another Allies player i thought would play more games
Beau O'Connell - NT - im surprised he has not gotten a run, dangerous HFF
Jackson Callow - TAS - an interesting product from Tas for 2020, could replace Ellem at FF, can kick bags of goals
Alex Davies - GCS - another 2020 prospect who has shown promise, could play mid or a flank

WA:
Jack Musika - WA - wasnt selected in squad but is an accumulator and looked good in trials
Mitch Georgiades - WA - injured tall forw, looked good in 2018 champs, bad luck he isnt playing in the champs this yr

SA:
Declan Carmody - SA - 19 yr old that looked and played similar to Mead, would like to see what he can produce in the champs
Tom Rundle - SA - played ruck in the trials, although KPP size he was really handy around the grounds and competed well, injured recently
Thilthorpe - SA - 2020 ruck prospect, i have yet to see play - injured
Schofield - SA - 2020 prospect, i have yet to see play - injured
