His time has come.

What can he offer that we need to move in the right direction next year. What does he have that would have him in the top 8 midfielder?

Someone, anyone try to convince me what he has that we need against all others on our list.

Was a big Eagle critic early on but the last 2-3 years he has been outstanding.
Not sure of his stats but I think he is high up for us on 'inside 50's'.

I've mentioned before that everyone on the list bar about 5 players is tradable so you'd have to consider all options but, unless we can get value for him he should stay and I'm not sure that we would get value for him at this stage of his career.

He is not of huge value to us but that does not mean we should delist him. If other clubs are interested I would definitely look at trading him. Definitely worth a spot on the list for next year.

De list or trade? No to the first and yes to the second for the right offer.

I don't think anyone else would want him!

He only has one side, he dropped some easy marks, fumbled and looked like he was concerned......

I have never been a fan, he has played a couple of great games.....but his best footy is played when we are going OK. Bit too much of a downhill dude for me.

Surely must treat this as a trade Eagle topic. Delisting him would be inane, trading him would be sensible if the right trade comes up.

He averaged just over 18 disposals, 2 clearances, 4 inside 50's and kicked 20 odd goals. Not a bad return for the 20 games he played. His run and his left foot make him worth his spot. No doubt in my mind he is an important part of our next 3+ years.

Yeah he does have his weaknesses, but I think he offers us/other clubs more than the usual player who fills the 22nd spot.

I'd definitely be willing to trade though, that is the issue we should be discussing.

Important??? In term of a flag opportunity. Give me a break. If he is still running around with our club in three years time we will not have improved at all. For if he is still around the top 22 we can not have improved.

Was severly underdone on Saturday night and it showed, but doesn't do enough defensively. His use of the ball is questionable and will be overtaken by our improving onball brigade, not sure what his currency would be like on the open market. Might be worth putting his name up, speed deficient teams like Coll & St. Kilda you think would be interested.

You are on the money. If we improve and play a role in the finals next year, he will not be in the team.

I think you are overrating the 22nd spot a bit. Plenty of premiership sides featuring players inferior to Eagleton. I do not think he is very important to us but he does add depth.

like all outside midfiedlers , he is going to struggle big time if there is nobody to get the ball to him. eagle struggles a bit more than most because he has virtually no ability to win the ball himself - was very unwilling to comit his body or even bend to pick up the ball under pressure.

this hasnt changed from 2 years ago, but hwat has is his dispoal and decision making which have improved.

obviously if there was a fair dinkum trade going down you might look at him, but I wouldnt trade him 'just because' (I would have 2 years ago)

You have got to be kidding.

Eagleton is without doubt one of our two most attacking (forward) runners, the other being Cooney, clubs cry out for midfielders you can kick on average a goal a game.

His season stats shows he has had over 370 possessions (ave 18 per game) and kicked 20 goals in his 21 games this year, despite having no more than 60% ground time.

Even on Saturday night when by his own admission he had a very average game and made a couple of glaring errors, he still had 16 possessions a fair number more than some of our younger guys.

I think people tend to look at his mistakes rather than the good things he does. If you were using only Sat night as a guide, for Gia and Cooney for that wouldn't play another game.

Has gone from being a top 10 player at the club a couple of years ago to somenoe anywhere b/w 14-25. When we are bad Eagleton is one our of worst. Even though he got a bit of the ball Saturday night his use of it was tripe and cant win his own ball. Maybe if trouble if footy dept.'s thinking is along the line s of people on this site.

I mentioned his name in a thread i just posted and was thinking along the lines of Benno.

If he is contracted beyond this year then fine, keep him.

No one will want him! Even Wallet would not take him.

Freo will definitely be looking to trade Polak.
Considering the ever decreasing number of key positions in recent drafts his value is still reasonably high.

No doubt Farren Ray's name will be mentioned in some capacity.

Eagleton?

Scooter600x three weeks ahead of the rest.

Only I put his name up after considering his season, our needs and Freo's needs.

Benno put his name up in a knee-jerk reaction to one performance

Eade commented on Saturday night that Grant and Eagleton both had problems with their backs and struggled to bend over to pick the ball up. He said the rain made this a bigger issue than it previously had been.

Sorry to have upset you. Eagleton can't kick right foot, decision making is questionable, Only plays well when the side is going well and will be 28 in Nov. He is gone!! Don't make this trhead about anything else up Eagleton. Gia and Cooney are not to be mentioned in the same sentence.

Scooter600x I have been trying to get rid of Eagleton since they traded Monty away for him. Hardly knee jerk. But glad you agree.

I think he can play and there is no chance he will be delisted.

If we want Polak and Freo want pace and kicking, I see it as win-win.

I wouldn't be giving Eagle away for a 3rd round pick, though.

i think he is great if we are going great. So weight it up I guess.

I would give him away in a deal for Polak (He will help us score)

Fairly or unfairly I just don't rate him. Has he ever been our best in a losing team?
