I think DeeHughMan started this thread because he knows Melbourne have shit-all key forwards after Neitz and is now shitting his pants - hoping a Pavlich will leave Fremantle.

Thats exactly my point.
He is the Best player in the comp. He would be recognised so if he was playing for any other side.
at least i can admit my team is pretty much a rabble on and off the field at the moment.

Having said that both clubs are basket cases. Freo just have a little more cash and 40,000 supporters who wish they could get a ticket to a WCE game.

Agree with the OP. Freo aren't going to win a premiership for the length of Pav's career, so they ought to learn from the past and trade him for some high picks.
P.S. It's a shame to see so many irrelevant ad homenim responses to the OP. I can see why some people prefer to be 'unlisted'. Try to respond to what's being said in this thread. Notice that it has nothing whatsoever to do with the Melbourne Football Club. Pav's biggest problem is that he is so much better than every other player on Fremantle's list.
This makes his predicament (being a gun interstate player) seem worse than it really is...he is encouraged from all sides to "go home" to a team that can challenge for a flag, whereas if Freo had a couple of players to give him some support it would be easier for him to stay put and ride out this rough patch.

Fremantle don't deserve a player like Pavlich
Any guy who doesn't become 'fremantled' by the dockers deserves respect in my eyes.
For someone as good as him, for as long as he's been doing it, he definitely deserves some success, even if it's just september penetration more often than not.

pavlich should've been in the absolute upper echelon of players that this game has seen. instead he's wasting his talent and his career with a pathetic entity that wears purple.
yes, say what u will about the culture of my club... on the field though, we have a winning culture. fremantle does not have that, and will become the next st kilda, taking decades to actually win anything...
for his own career, for his own legacy, pavlich needs to leave.

I thought Robert Flower was respected by Melbourne supporters because he rejected offers from other clubs to stay a Demon player.

Trading Pav is not such a crazy idea for Freo. They will never be able to surround hm with the talent required to win him a flag for the duration of his career - trade him now and some club will give him the whole house and land package and they could set up well for the coming expansion draft drought.
