Dear New Balance

It's really on TV. Trust me, particularly against teams with red on their guernsey like Brisbane earlier in the year.

I haven't watched a Melbourne game on TV so far this year but when watching highlights and on the big screen at the ground.

I to think the collar was cool but I'm getting a bit over it. Barely notice it though.

pretty keen for the new polos!

Hopefully they aren't done on the cheap like the current ones.

Do the people at NB not realise that stickers come off after about 5 washes? We're not Collingwood supporters, we do wash our clothes.

Jumpers are far from pink? do you want them to design them to look good on TV or in real life?

There are also multiple shades of red, Blood red is different from what ever bright fluro red the lions use

Both. Surely not too much too ask.

Yes i agree, but my point was that i think they are close in real life, just a shame they look pinker on the telly.

Also i like both the Stars and the Collar, adds a Point of Difference to the Dees strip.

Jumpers look good under certain light, but on the pink the material gives it a pink look. I don't think it's the colour so much as the material. It looks quite bright, similar to the Carlton clash guernsey.

When I have been to games this year, the jersey has appeared really deep red, like the polos. However on the website, the home jerseys seem to have a pinkish hue to them. The away jerseys on the website appear more like the home ones do when viewed in person at the ground. They are much more blood red.

Perhaps it is the fact that the red on the home jerseys is contrasted with the blue, that is making people see pink? The red on the away jerseys only contrasts with white?

Anyone a painter?

From jumpers I have seen at the ground they look identical. There's no use comparing photos because the colour changes in every one.

Hi guys, this is my first time posting on the Bigfooty. So don't don't shoot me or anything. I reckon that the home jumper appears to have that homo pink tinge to it because it's not in as bright a light as the away jumper. The away jumper's red does look pretty good IMO, but it's definitely possible to have a red that looks good on both in bright sunlight and on less bright days.

Hi Guys. Just a bit of designer input. The problem with selecting a colour (particularly a red) is that it will appear differently on every screen in the world, and different again in real life. Even if you use web safe colours. Also, if you retain the same red for the home/away strips - which for brand consistency you should - it will look different against a white strip than a blue strip.

The other thing is that often prototype colours are produced on different machines than the actual production run (I'm making a bit of an assumption here as my expertise is in paint and print finishes - not clothing). Which means that the signed off prototype is often slightly different to the production run. This slight difference can take a difficult / custom red like yours (i.e. it's not a pure fire-engine red like Sydney's) and just tip it to an 'unacceptable' shade.

Given the investment in producing a production run of clothing, it's probably something they'll look at tweaking next year rather than this (if they think it's an actual problem).

Cheers.

Edit. PS I quite like the red and can see where they're going with it, but it probably does need a tweak to get right on TV.

New balance does need to improve their on field apparel. I have an on field club jacket and half of the logo stickers have fallen off already. I have only had it for one year which is pretty disappointing in my opinion, especially when they cost around $100 I believe.

Yeah I recognise it can be hard but other teams have gotten it right for years. Essendon's is the best IMO. It's a very striking red against their black. We should be able to get the same against a very dark blue.

Their red is very bright, whereas we are going for a blood red colour

Prior to this, when we had a more "standard" red, we never had this issue
