This is my first ever phantom draft. I do have reasons behind my choices, so feel free to ask if unsure.

#1 GWS - Stephen Coniglio
Why: No explanation required.

#2 GWS - Jonathon Patton
Why: Ditto.

#3 GWS - Dom Tyson
Why: Good footskills, can play inside and out.

#4 GWS – Chad Wingard
Why: Perfect all-round midfielder.

#5 GWS – Will Hoskin-Elliot
Why: Could choose Longer, but would probably gamble on him being at 7. WHE will be a superstar and has attributes to play any position on the ground.

#6 Port Adelaide – Matthew Buntine
Why: Probably unlucky. Buntine is the great none the less.

#7 GWS - Billy Longer
Why: Best ruckman in the draft.

#8 Brisbane – Toby Greene
Why: Clearance machine who excels at stoppages.

#9 GWS - Liam Sumner
Why: Best outside midfielder with good breakaway spped.

#10 GWS – Adam Tomlinson
Why: Michael Hurley equivalent. Can play at either end and is already quite mature (body wise)

#11 GWS - Hayden Crozier
Why: Excitement machine.

#12 Brisbane – Todd Elton
Why: Brisbane need a key position forward and a back up ruck for Leunberger. Hudson is a short tem fix and Elton could be the perfect foil.

#13 GWS – Michael Talia
Why: Seen him lower on other phantom drafts but I clearly see him as the best defender in the draft.

#14 GWS – Taylor Adams
Why: Great midfielder.

#15 Richmond - Elliot Kavanagh
Why: Injuries wrecked his 2011. Complete midfielder with great hands.

#16 Fremantle – Shane Kersten
Why: Replacement Matt Pavilich.

#17 Western Bulldogs –Jackson Paine
Why: Need key position forwards. He could go a little lower.

#18 North Melbourne - Brad McKenzie
Why: Great kicking skills. Good reader of play.

#19 Essendon – Mitchell Grigg
Why: Best in and under midfielder at the Championships. Can fill Essendon's desire for hard on ballers.

#20 Fremantle – Fraser McInnes
Why: Tall, strong KPP.

#21 Sydney - Tom Mitchell
Why: F/S

#22 Carlton – Julian Dobosz
Why: Need a forward, Dobosz best available.

#23 West Coast – Daniel Markworth
Why: Fyfe like qualities.

#24 Gold Coast - Brandon Ellis
Why: Has the body of a man and is a booming kick.

#25 St Kilda - Myles Bolger
Why: Support of McEvoy.

#26 Richmond – Sam Docherty
Why: Great defender who can free up Deledio.

#27 Adelaide – Devon Smith
Why: Small forward who can push into the midfield.

#28 West Coast - Murray Newman
Why: Quick and evasive. Can play inside or out.

#29 Fremantle - Andrew Bosely
Why: Perfect defender. Think Dustin Fletcher.

#30 Brisbane – Nick Haynes
Why: Lanky midfielder with great athletic qualities.

#31 Essendon – Sebastian Ross
Why: Inside midfielder.

#32 Geelong - Brody Mihocek

#33 Hawthorn – Alex Forster

#34 Geelong – Ben Darrou

#35 St Kilda – Sam Frost

#36 Melbourne – Josh Walhuter

#37 St Kilda - Shane Nelson

#38 Hawthorn – Clay Smith

#39 Western Bulldogs – Alex Woodward

#40 North Melbourne – Marley Williams

#41 Adelaide – Brad Hill

#42 St Kilda – Jackson Merrett

#43 Sydney - Jack Crisp

#44 Carlton - Cameron Ellis-Yolmen

#45 Port Adelaide – Elliot Yeo

#46 Adelaide – Jordan Kelly

#47 Brisbane – Michael Bussey

#48 Geelong – Nick Murphy

...will add more when time permits.

Terrific effort I think you will be close with many of your selections....some quite different to others on BF. In the 35-45group a few there i think will not get picked till late or even be Rookie later eg Hill, Nelson, Yeo, Williams all could be much later .

Thanks :thumbsu:

I personally rate Hill and Yeo higher than others. The only reason that either might slip into the rookie draft is their slender frame. However, I do believe that a team with sufficient patience would pick the duo up.

I have seen Nelson and Williams go higher in other phantoms so 35-45 is about right IMO.

Interesting to see a Richmond selection a bit different at 26

I think Sam Docherty might be part of the first 48. Likely first 20

Freo with three talls with there first 3 picks, plus the availability of a homesick Turnbridge later in the draft the last one being a forward....hmmmm. From my perspective 2 of the first 3 as KPP's would be enough, one a forward. If we really want a third, later picks could get us Turnbridge or Curren maybe. Would like at least 1 of the first three to be a midfielder with a preference for hard nut in and under, or Newman.
