Got killed by Sherman last night and on other weeks where he has been tagged. In his third year he has played games to suggest he is the real deal (Bombers game) but goes missing in other games.

Should we keep him in the backline so he can develop into an attacking backman?

I wrote a post about this last week where I talked about him having 3 very good games after the Cats game, the reason being the opposition let him be. Last night I don't think it was Sherman so much that beat Brett rather that Brett was trying to get onto another player and had Sherman follow him as well. BTW Sherman was given 1 vote in MMM's worse on ground votes. Overall I think they cancelled each other out as both had no impact on the game.

Deledio is a utility so we may as well play him like one.

Forward line to Wing to HBF with short bursts in the middle. Hopefully he'll begin to find his feet when he spends time in the middle and in time be too good for taggers.

Marc Murphy is 1 month younger than Deledio and he is also struggling with tagging - more than Deledio I'd say.

If he is still having problems when he's 22 then he will always be useful has a utility.

let him grow some balls and actually work for possesions instead of receiving handballs from the back flank all the time

it will make him

Deledio is a wingman and should be playing there and nowhere else imo.

Just watched a replay and if the umps had looked at it more, he could have got about 15 free kicks at stoppages, Sherman was allowed to get away with a hell of a lot of holding. Maybe Lids needs to be a bit more vocal in bringing it to the umps attention.

yep, also would help if the boys looked out for each other, putting on blocks and shephards, we're hopeless at the 1%ers

except instead of getting C grade footballers like sherman*, murphy gets tagged by the best taggers such as stenglein, rawlings, holland etc.

*nothing against sherman, i really rate him but at this stage i only rate him C grade but he has the potential to be A grade.

Exactly, the kid just turned 20 years old and in just his 3rd year. Also alot of people on this board are expecting him to break tags and star. FFS, just because Judd did it doesn't mean that all others will. He has had enormise preasure put on him because he was compared to Judd early on in his carrier.

I would say sherman is a better player. and has accomplished far more as a young footballer.

What about Cameron Ling? Do you consider him a C-Grade footballer too smartass?

Deledio gets the opposition's best tagger. **** off and stay away from our board.

Brisbane have Black, Lappin, Power, etc and many other quality attacking midfielders, they don't have quality taggers.

What, being dropped, struggling to get a game, forced to tag, no awards is better than Rising Star Award, continued improvement (instead of gradual decline), tearing games apart and copping #1 taggers?

If so then WC will be offering Chris Judd for a straight swap with Richie Vandenburg at the end of the season ;)

well said benny..

for the record sherman had 6 touches and had zero impact, lids has got to learn that sometimes gun players get held but they make the most of their opportunities. He kicked 1.2, if he had had 9 touches and kicked 3 goals you'd take that on a quiet night.

He'll get there

supporters are way too demanding of our young players.. If they dont have 20+ possession games we think they are duds or not performing. To put it into perspective, check out the stats from every game this weekend and look at 1st, 2nd,3rd year players, i think you'd be amazed at how many have "quiet" 5-12 possession games.

selwood is brisbane's best tagger by miles. and i wasn't trying to be a smartass just trying to offer an unbiased view of it all. i really rate deledio but i thought it wasn't fair to compare him to murphy in terms of the amount of tagging he gets and how he copes with it.

RICHMOND HAVE NO MIDFIELD

Opposition have no choice but to put their best taggers on Deledio

At least you blokes have guys like Simpson, etc. (blokes like Foley and Carazzo don't get tagged)

Matthews said in his press conference after the game that their no.1 tag was Deledio because they consider him the most penetrating player. A 3rd year 50-game player. Now that is an indictment on our midfield.

Maybe you had good intent, but you shouldn't just assume that Murphy has it worse off.

You simply don't watch Deledio enough so you wouldn't know. Cam Ling kept Kerr to 10 possies and even he tagged Deledio so how can a player have it harder than that? He cops it every week.

Who else will they focus on? Tivendale?!?!!! LOL.

Nah Deledio's rubish, trade him to the hawks:p .

But in all seriousness Deledio is going to be a gun. He will learn how to handle a tag in due time. Just look at other teams with 5th year players that are strugling with the tag, Shaun Burgoyne, and even Dal Santo has recently been struggling.

Deledio is a 3rd year player who will get other teams n.1 tagger, as the tiges really dont have any other quality mids. He will learn how to handle the tags, and when he does he will be a gun.
