"Watched" the first quarter while I was driving into work. Was absolutely livid with the constant awarding of free kicks to GC in dangerous spots and ignoring ours. Equally miffed at our piss poor effort and skills. Got out of the car at work with a woe is me attitude, ready to throw in footy for the year and have a rant when I finished work.

Work super busy so managed to check scores at half time, depression deepended. What is wrong with this club? Why can't we get off the canvas.

Open app randomly with 2m to go, see we're down by a goal, shocked we came back but sad it's going to end just short. Another valiant loss... Then the ticker updated, scores level! OMG! We're going to draw! Amazing.

Watched the timer tick down to zero, internally punching the air, can't believe we managed to get a draw after being down that far. Then all of a sudden the timer adds on another 6 mins 43, wtf!!!! What's going on!?

Quickly stepped away and opened to foxtel app to see Georgie doing his absolute ****ing nut and the song playing. Massive pep in my step for the rest of the day, work on fire in the background but zero ****s given!

Also laughed at Clarko's subtle comments about the umpiring. About as good a whack as he can give them.
Sometimes the memories of a result are better when your initial feed is not live vision. I fondly recall the final win against hawks when king held the ball forever in extra time on radio in car.

Our reliance on Darling and Parker is concerning. Old man Darling had a stellar game yesterday and Parker just does a lot right when needed.

These old guards wont be there at our next tilt and need to be replaced.
I like to think this is exactly why we brought them in. Start to win some games with the swarm of kids and teach them what it really takes. The confidence this year will start to build will be massive for us when the old mercenaries make way for the rest of our young blokes.

I’ve watched the final 10 minutes four times and I still have no idea how we managed to win. 😵‍💫

Threw the shackles off and went through the middle.

Can't play like that all the time because of the high energy and risk reward but we actually have some upper-level users of the ball when we decide to go.

On that note, I can't remember a better game disposal-wise for LDU. The up-and-under chip kicks weren't there and - apart from one fumble and one slip - was really damaging and clean going forward in the chain whereas in previous games all his damage has been from exiting the stoppage.

All we’ve wanted is the team to show us some grit, some plums, some ****in shinboner!

What the boys did in the 2nd half to dismantle a bloody good side stacked with infinite first round draft picks, and the worst umpiring since the Blonde protected species from COLA played us, was all we’ve been asking for.

Some very shrewd moves in the coaches box at half time then a Herculean effort on the field to pull it off.

Hopefully builds belief now.

Thanks Mr Negative. Just what we needed.

I don’t know about you Hoj, but from my seat I could clearly see that no opposition player even got so much as a fingertip on the ball. I said to the blokes sitting next to me that I thought it should have been paid and I seem to remember them saying something similar at the same time.
The nerve of calling stuff like this marked. As if they don't pay marks when three different players have hands on the ball and one comes down with it.

Both well on their way to retiring as true North champs. Exactly the sort of passion you want to see from players brought in from outside. You would think both were BFNAAK and played their whole careers here.

Watching Duursma's entry to LDU, the Suns defence were cooked by the transition. So many options and he picked the right one.

Agree.

This type of game is LDU's best footy as well. When he does transition and up the ground work then rotates into the middle to blast teams away. He looks like a Norm Smith medallist at times like that.

The extended version of the last qtr MMM call:

Isaac Smith is quality over quantity with his special comments!

Not sure if it’s been mentioned already, but did anyone notice how eerily similar the play that resulted in LDU’s goal to tie up the game was to the final play of the draw against Brisbane last year?

Comben with the intercept mark, expansive switch to the open side, north streaming forward with the ball on the half forward flank and options…..

The difference yesterday was BGZ’s cool head under pressure to actually spot and hit-up LDU. Who was it that fluffed the kick last year?

Foxtel has our replay on at the moment and it's almost 3/4 time. Probably a good time to tune in.
Much easier to watch when you know the result.

Some of the unpaid frees where Rowell in particular wasn’t penalised were as blatant as the Heeney HTB against Sydney. They were screamingly obvious and can’t be written off as simply being mistakes. There was also the whack that had Curtis come off for a HIA that I’m sure would have had the media dogs baying for three weeks off if it had been Paul making the same high contact.

The issue is not the standard of umpiring. It is a far deeper problem than that.

I can handle shit umpiring, what I can’t is biased umpiring from the start of the game like yesterday and usually Good Friday ,I don’t care what anyone says they are going into the game with that mindset
